On March 11, in Viet Tri city, Phu Tho province, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) announced the decision of the SBV Governor on the establishment of SBV Branch Region 4.
SBV Branch Region 4 was established on the basis of merging branches: Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, and Yen Bai. The branch's head office will be located in Viet Tri city, Phu Tho province.
At the announcement ceremony, Permanent Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Dao Minh Tu presented appointment decisions to deputy directors and heads/deputy heads of departments of branch 4.
Previously, on February 25, the State Bank of Vietnam issued decisions to transfer and appoint directors/acting directors of 15 branches nationwide. Ms. Truong Thu Hoa - Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Lang Son Province Branch - holds the position of Deputy Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 4 Branch and is assigned the position of Acting Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 4 Branch.
On February 24, the Government issued Decree No. 26/2025/ND-CP stipulating the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the State Bank of Vietnam, including State Bank branches in the regions.
On that basis, the Governor of the State Bank signed and issued decisions to establish, regulate the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the State Bank at 15 regional branches, on the basis of merging and rearranging 63 provincial and municipal branches.
Provinces in Region 4 play an important role in trading and connecting the northern mountainous regions with other provinces in the country, as well as creating a bridge for international trade through border gates with China.
By December 31, 2024, total outstanding credit in region 4 will reach VND 441,301 billion, an increase of 12.8% compared to December 31, 2023 (lower than the national growth rate of 15.09%), accounting for 40.75% of total outstanding debt of the Northern Midlands and Mountains region, accounting for about 2.83% of total outstanding debt of the economy.
By January 2025, outstanding credit in the region will reach about VND 442,515 billion, an increase of 0.28% compared to December 31, 2024 (nationwide, an increase of 0.63%).
