The Farmers’ Association of Dam Ha district currently has 5,780 members, accounting for 72% of the district’s population. With the goal of “Strong Association, Rich Farmers”, the district Farmers’ Association actively supports capital, transfers science and technology, creates conditions for members to develop the economy and increase income.

With many solutions to help members develop the economy, by the end of 2023, Dam Ha will no longer have poor farmer households, only 28 near-poor households, and the number of households with an income of 100 million VND/year or more is increasing.
Mr. Pham Van Thanh's household (Dong Tam village, Duc Yen commune) has 13 hectares of agricultural land. Previously, due to lack of capital for investment, land resources were not exploited and used effectively, leading to low and unstable income. In recent years, thanks to mobilizing many sources of capital, including preferential loans guaranteed by the district Farmers' Association with the district Social Policy Bank, his family has developed the VAC farm economy. Up to now, the farm regularly raises about 30 sows, nearly 4,000 egg-laying chickens and ducks; grows many types of fruit trees such as persimmon, lychee, longan, etc.; bringing in a stable profit of more than 500 million VND/year, creating jobs for 5 local workers.
Implementing the district's fruit tree planting project, at the end of 2023, the district's Agricultural Technical Service Center coordinated with Truong Giang General Agricultural Production Cooperative to deploy a passion fruit planting model, an area of 3.5 hectares in Trai Dinh village (Dam Ha commune). Participating in the pilot model, the cooperative received 70% support from the district in terms of seeds, fertilizers, irrigation systems, concrete columns, and planting techniques; was guaranteed by the district's Farmers' Association with the district's Social Policy Bank for a loan of 120 million VND, interest rate of 0.65%/year, and was able to borrow 100 million VND from the Farmers' Support Fund to buy fertilizers and hire workers. Mr. Dang Van Giang, Director of the Cooperative, said: After 6 months of planting, passion fruit has been harvested, with an average yield of 20 tons of fruit/ha/year, earning 400 million VND/ha, 5 times higher than growing vegetables before.

To help members escape poverty sustainably and increase income, in the first 9 months of 2024, the Association actively promoted and mobilized cadres, members and people to introduce new rice varieties (J02, ST25), new crops with high productivity, quality and economic value (purebred gray oyster mushroom PL2, peanut L29, high-yield corn, etc.) into production; linked with businesses to implement a program to supply fertilizers and animal feed on deferred payment; coordinated with professional departments of the Provincial Farmers' Association, the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, and the District Social Policy Bank to organize 7 training courses on professional association work and farmers' movements; pig farming techniques according to VietGAP standards; techniques of pruning branches, creating canopy and pollinating fruit trees; management skills, putting products on e-commerce platforms, and selling on social networking sites.
The Association has coordinated with the District Social Policy Bank to effectively carry out the entrusted lending, acting as a bridge to transfer preferential credit capital to members who need to borrow capital to develop production, increase income, and improve their lives. Up to now, 9/9 communes and towns of the district have farmers' savings and loan groups, the total outstanding loan balance managed by the Association is 102 billion VND with 36 groups and 1,249 borrowers. The Association inspects and supervises to ensure that the loan capital reaches the right beneficiaries, is used for the right purpose, is effective, and there are no cases of overdue debt.
The Association promotes the establishment of professional farmer branches and groups, creating a premise for the development of collective economic forms (cooperatives, cooperatives), and improving the competitiveness of agricultural products. In the first 9 months of 2024, the Association established 4 new professional branches and groups with 38 members; bringing the total number of professional branches and groups to 172 members. In 2024, the district has 3,787 farmer households registered for excellent production and business at all levels, striving to have 2,879 households achieving titles at the provincial, district, and grassroots levels.
