Improving the quality of medical examination and treatment and overcoming the overload situation in hospitals is one of the key contents that the health sector has successfully implemented in the 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW of the 12th Party Central Committee on "Strengthening the work of protecting, caring for and improving people's health in the new situation".

According to Dr. Le Ngoc Long, Deputy Director of the Provincial General Hospital, aiming at the goal of on-site training, not depending on resources from other units, the hospital has strongly innovated training and technology transfer. Recently, the hospital has signed contracts and training with prestigious universities.

At the same time, the hospital cooperates with medical associations and organizations to organize valuable scientific seminars on medicine (ultrasound screening for fetal malformations and congenital heart disease, conference on minimally invasive techniques in the treatment of urinary tract stones), organize online sessions for remote examination and treatment, Telehealth with upper-level hospitals (Hanoi Medical University Hospital, Tu Du Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital... "Through this, doctors and medical staff exchange experiences, improve their qualifications and skills. Some advanced techniques have been applied by the hospital to support examination, diagnosis and treatment such as: Application of microscope systems, C-am in cranial and spinal neurosurgery, orthopedic trauma, urology", said Dr. Le Ngoc Long.

Not only provincial-level medical units but also lower-level ones focus on improving the quality of medical examination and treatment. Doctor Huynh Thi Nguyet Phuong, Director of Thuan An City Medical Center, shared: “Recently, the center successfully amputated a limb for a patient with diabetes. This is the first limb amputation for a patient with diabetes and many other underlying diseases that the center has performed. The success of the case marks an important step forward in the center's combined medical and surgical treatment. With the successful implementation of this technique, local people can confidently choose Thuan An City Medical Center when in need without having to go far or go to a higher-level hospital to perform it.”

Overload Fix

Currently, the provincial health sector is developing a project to develop the overall health sector of the province and organizing the completion of the grassroots health network with a model of district health centers performing 3 functions. The province is increasing investment in facilities and equipment at the provincial General Hospital, putting into operation a new treatment area of ​​the obstetrics department with a scale of 300 beds, upgrading and renovating 11 operating rooms to ensure standards.

The sector also piloted the provision of all 76 technical categories in the basic health service package, implemented two-way rotation for doctors and called for socialization of the health sector to build Binh Duong into a regional health care center. From now until the end of the year, the Department of Health and related sectors will urgently complete the plan to relocate the Provincial General Hospital to the 1,500-bed General Hospital; at the same time, relocate provincial health facilities to the hospital campus.

Assessing the results of the implementation of Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW of the 12th Party Central Committee, Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said that over the years, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee have always paid attention to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment and overcoming the situation of hospital overload. The province has directed the health sector to synchronously and regularly implement professional solutions and deploy criteria for evaluating hospital quality to ensure patient satisfaction.

In particular, the provincial health sector has rotated medical staff from higher levels to support lower levels in transferring techniques and improving treatment quality. At the same time, the sector has also strongly reformed the medical examination and treatment process, implemented the code of professional ethics, and encouraged people to participate in health insurance. Thanks to that, the quality of medical examination, treatment, and health care for the people has been increasingly improved.
