The victim was identified as Corey Comperatore, according to a Facebook post by his family. “Hate for one person took the life of the man we loved the most,” the victim’s sister said in the post.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Comperatore previously served as chief of the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department. Governor Shapiro said he has spoken with Comperatore's family about the incident.
"Corey died a hero. Corey rushed into his family to protect them at this rally. Corey was the best of us," Governor Shapiro said, adding that Comperatore leaves behind a wife and two daughters, describing the victim as "a passionate supporter" of Mr Trump.
As is known, former US President Donald Trump had just started his speech at a rally in Pennsylvania when gunshots rang out. He was lucky to escape death by a hair's breadth, as the bullet only grazed his right ear, but one person was killed and two others were seriously injured by the gunfire.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as a suspect in what authorities have determined was an attempt to assassinate Mr. Trump.
