Male student lost his left hand due to homemade firecrackers

On the morning of December 13, Mr. Le The Nhan, principal of Nguyen Tat Thanh High School, Dak R'lap District (Dak Nong) informed that the school had reported to the Department of Education and Training of Dak Nong province about the case of a male student who had an accident with exploding firecrackers.

According to Mr. Nhan, the case of the male student named N.D.T. (born in 2009), a student in class 10A3, Nguyen Tat Thanh High School. After the incident, his family called to report and ask the homeroom teacher for permission for T. to be absent from school due to an accident, but did not specify what the accident was.

Through investigation, the incident occurred at T.'s house. At the time of the accident, T.'s father was at home. After a loud explosion suspected to have been caused by making fireworks, T. lost his entire left hand. He was given first aid and transferred to Ho Chi Minh City for emergency treatment and surgery to amputate his hand. Currently, T.'s health is stable and he continues to be monitored at the hospital. The incident occurred in Hung Binh commune, Dak R'lap district, not at school, Mr. Nhan said.

It is known that on the occasion of Lunar New Year, the situation of students ordering materials online and making their own firecrackers has increased. The education sector and the Dak Nong Provincial Police have propagated and handled violations related to firecrackers, but this situation still occurs, leaving behind regrettable consequences.
