(NLDO)- Two giant firecrackers nearly 6 meters long and more than 1 meter in diameter were carried around the village, attracting thousands of participants at the Dong Ky ward festival.
On February 1 (the 4th day of the Lunar New Year), Dong Ky ward, Tu Son city, Bac Ninh province organized the Dong Ky Fireworks Festival Spring At Ty 2025, attracting thousands of people and tourists from all over.
The festival is held according to traditional rituals, consisting of 2 parts: the ceremony and the festival. The procession part has the participation of more than 1,000 people including lion dance teams, large and small music groups, worshiping objects, flags, gongs, drums, palanquins, fireworks, the first and second fireworks....
The highlight of the Dong Ky Firecracker Festival is the procession of two giant "firecrackers", each weighing about 1 ton and nearly 6 meters long, painted in red and gilded, carved with the image of a Dragon - Unicorn - Turtle - Phoenix with the wish for a new year of favorable weather and wind.
The procession of the two "firecrackers" was warmly cheered by thousands of locals and tourists attending.
According to legend, the Dong Ky Firecracker Festival dates back to the reign of the 6th Hung King. The village's tutelary god, General Thien Cuong, along with Saint Giong, defeated the Xich Quy invaders. When they returned victorious, the villagers held a festival to reward the troops, including setting off firecrackers.
Dong Ky Fireworks Festival is one of the 8 cultural heritages of Bac Ninh that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has included in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2016. The festival is a form of good traditional cultural activity of the people, aiming to preserve and develop cultural values, commemorate the merits of national heroes, cultural celebrities, martyrs and people with merit to the village and the country.
