Dang Tran Con Primary School (District 4, Ho Chi Minh City) organized health check-ups for teachers and staff before officially starting the new school year.
Priority is given to recruiting preschool and primary school teachers who are in short supply.
Accordingly, the demand for teachers and staff of the Ho Chi Minh City Education and Training sector for the 2024-2025 school year as of July 2024 includes 3,522 teachers (79 specialized teachers, 649 preschool teachers, 1,243 primary school teachers, 1,151 secondary school teachers) and 720 employees (33 specialized staff, 124 preschool staff, 241 primary school staff, 276 secondary school staff).
As of August, with a recruitment need of 337 civil servants, including 263 teachers and 74 employees, public service units under the Department of Education and Training recruited 297 people, reaching a rate of about 85%. Of these, there were 254 teachers (nearly 96.58%) and 43 employees (55.4%).
There are 11 districts that have been and are implementing the recruitment process after being approved by the District People's Committee; 9 districts are waiting for approval of the recruitment plan; 2 districts (District 5, District 6) have not yet developed a teacher recruitment plan due to the lack of staff assigned in 2024, waiting for additional assignment.
Mr. Ho Tan Minh said that from the 2024-2025 school year to the 2026-2027 school year, the Department of Education and Training will implement a plan to improve the quality and standardize the team of teachers and educational managers at all levels according to Decision No. 870/QD-UBND dated March 21, 2024 of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. At the same time, research and develop projects to develop the team of teachers and managers of preschool and general education institutions for the period 2026-2030 with a vision to 2045.
"The city will organize the recruitment of teachers and education staff to ensure quantity and quality (priority will be given to recruiting preschool and primary school teachers who are in short supply). Arrange and regulate preschool and general education teachers among local educational institutions to ensure reasonableness, overcoming the situation of local teacher surplus and shortage. Research and advise on developing policies to attract teachers, create sources for teacher recruitment and support, creating conditions for teachers to work with peace of mind," said Mr. Minh.
Strengthening international integration
The Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training also emphasized that in the new school year, the city will strengthen international integration, attract and effectively use foreign resources for education and training. Strengthen the management of the activities of educational institutions with foreign elements and organizations providing study abroad consulting services.
The city continues to effectively implement the project to popularize and improve English proficiency for students, the teaching and learning program of math, science and English integrating the English and Vietnamese programs (project 5695), expanding the teaching of other foreign languages such as Japanese, Korean, Chinese, French... depending on the needs of students and the conditions of facilities as well as the teaching staff of each unit.
