On November 26, US Department of Justice officials announced the arrest of a suspect for smuggling illegal substances by soaking clothes with crystal meth and sending them as luggage for a flight from the US to Australia.

AFP on November 27 quoted information from the US Department of Justice saying that the suspect named Raj Matharu checked in two suitcases at Los Angeles International Airport (California) for a flight to Sydney (Australia) on November 6.
While the two suitcases were going through the X-ray machine, customs officials noticed something unusual and decided to open the suitcases for a closer inspection.
Thanks to this action, they discovered more than 10 pieces of clothing, including a cow-shaped pajama set, in a dry and stiff state and covered with a white substance.
Tests showed that the clothes had been soaked in a crystal meth solution and left to dry, allowing the suspect to carry more than 1 kilogram of drugs in his personal luggage, according to the Justice Department.
"Drug traffickers continue to devise new ways to transport dangerous drugs in pursuit of illegal profits," AFP quoted California state prosecutor Martin Estrada.
“In the process, they poison communities around the world,” Estrada said.
Airport security arrested suspect Matharu as he was moving from the connecting tube to the plane.
Matharu, 31, of Northridge, California, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with conspiracy to distribute the drug.
The suspect was released on $10,000 bail, CBS News reported. He faces a minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison if convicted.
