In 2023, Vietnamese people will order food on Grab, Shopee Food... applications with a total value of up to 1.4 billion USD, equivalent to 35,000 billion VND, or about 90 billion VND per day.
The information is mentioned in a report on food delivery apps in Southeast Asia recently published by Momentum Works.
The value of orders placed via apps in Vietnam last year increased by 30% compared to the previous year, a remarkable increase compared to other countries in the region.
However, compared to other countries, Vietnam's order value (GMV) of 1.4 billion USD is still lower than Malaysia's 2.4 billion USD, Philippines' 2.5 billion USD and Singapore's 3.7 billion USD, etc.
Momentum Works GMV statistics include all orders created through the app and submitted to the restaurant, including canceled and refunded orders.
The two apps Grab and Shopee Food are dominating the home delivery food market in Vietnam. Grab is in the lead, accounting for 47% of the home delivery food market share. Shopee Food accounts for 45% of the market share. The remaining 8% is through BaeMin (which has stopped operating in Vietnam since the end of 2023) and GoJek.

Not only in Vietnam, Grab's food delivery service is leading in many other countries in Southeast Asia such as Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia. Shopee Food in Vietnam dominates the market share thanks to the acquisition of Now, while in other countries it has not been able to compete with Foodpanda.
In the entire Southeast Asia region, Grab leads the food delivery market with a total GMV of 9.4 billion USD and far surpasses other competitors such as Foodpanda (2.7 billion USD), Gojek (1.8 billion USD), Shopee Food (1.5 billion USD), Lineman (1.3 billion USD)...
