According to statistics, in the past few years, the Health Insurance Fund has paid more than 100 trillion VND each year for health insurance examination and treatment. Thanks to that, people have significantly reduced their medical expenses, especially for many people with serious and chronic diseases... when the Health Insurance Fund pays for medical examination and treatment, they have more motivation to overcome the difficulties of illness.
Specifically, in 2022, the number of health insurance examinations and treatments was 150.6 million, an increase of 24.1 million (19%) over the same period last year. The amount of insurance payment was VND 106,682.2 billion, an increase of VND 18,874.5 billion (21.5%) over the same period last year.
In the first 6 months of 2023, the number of health insurance examinations and treatments was 83 million, an increase of 18.8 million (29.2%) over the same period. The cost of medical examinations and treatments paid by the Social Insurance agency was VND 57,032.9 billion, an increase of VND 10,796 billion (23.3%) over the first 6 months of 2022.
The health insurance benefits of participants are increasingly expanded in both scope and level of health insurance benefits. The quality of medical examination and treatment under health insurance is also increasingly improved, people have access to many modern and highly effective medical services. The patient with the second highest payment from the Health Insurance Fund is 3.88 billion VND (of which over 2.12 billion VND in 2022, nearly 1.76 billion VND in the first 6 months of 2023), with card code TE1242422XXXXXX; born in 2018; address Binh An, Tien Phong commune, Yen Dung district, Bac Giang; main diagnosis is "Glycogen storage disease, acute bronchitis...".
