(Dan Tri) - With the number of excellent national and international students much larger than other provinces and cities, the budget that Hanoi allocates for rewards according to the new resolution will not be small.
The Resolution of the Hanoi People's Council regulating the bonus level for teachers, students and trainees in the capital who achieve high results in domestic and international competitions was passed on December 10.
Accordingly, the highest reward is 300 million VND, for students who win gold medals in international cultural Olympic events. The lowest is 10 million VND, for first prize in excellent students at the city level in secondary schools.
Hanoi's highest bonus is 400 million VND lower than Quang Ninh, 200 million VND lower than Hai Phong and Bac Ninh, 100 million VND lower than Vinh Phuc, equal to Thua Thien Hue and Hai Duong, and 100 million VND higher than Ho Chi Minh City.
However, the total amount of bonus that Hanoi needs to spend on national and international excellent students according to the new resolution is much higher than that of other provinces. The reason is that the number of students with high achievements in Hanoi is larger.
Compared to the provinces of Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, the number of national and international awards of Hanoi is 1.87-2.3 times higher.
Specifically, in the 2023-2024 school year, Hanoi has 184 students winning national prizes. Meanwhile, Hai Phong and Hai Duong have 98 prizes, Vinh Phuc has 89 prizes, Quang Ninh has 85 prizes and Bac Ninh has 79 prizes.
With international and regional Olympic awards and international science and technology competitions, Hanoi has 12 awards, Hai Phong has 4 awards, and Bac Ninh has 3 awards.
At the city level, the number of Hanoi students winning first prizes in cultural subject competitions is also very large. In 2023-2024, Hanoi will have 135 first prizes at the junior high school level and 157 first prizes at the high school level.
Comparing the achievements of Hanoi students in the 2023-2024 school year, the draft resolution of the City People's Committee estimates the bonus amount at about 12 billion VND, for both students and teachers.
However, with the officially approved bonus, the amount that Hanoi needs to spend is about 14.2 billion VND. This figure is 2.7 times higher than the total bonus that Bac Ninh spends for students and teachers with high achievements in the 2023-2024 school year.
Estimated amount of bonus money that Hanoi will spend on achievements in the 2023-2024 school year (Table: Hoang Hong).
In previous years, Hanoi’s highest reward for students winning international prizes was 20 million VND. This is considered a very modest reward, especially when compared to provinces with lower socio-economic conditions.
Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Quang Ngai, and Kien Giang reward students who win international gold medals from 100 to 120 million VND.
A mountainous province like Tuyen Quang also rewards the highest amount of 250 million VND and the lowest amount of 30 million VND for each student who achieves results.
Therefore, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has persistently proposed new policies for the capital's talented students in recent years.
Currently, Hanoi's new bonus level has increased 15 times, ranking 4th nationwide in terms of benefits for talented students.
