Choosing to start a business from the land left by our ancestors

Former French student Dang Duong Minh Hoang is currently the owner of an agricultural farm in Binh Phuoc province.

Previously, he received a master's degree in automation and information systems and immediately got a stable job at a nuclear plant in Lyon (belonging to France's leading electricity group, Électricité de France).

In 2012, he had an income of 3,000 Euro/month (equivalent to 75 million VND/month. This was a good and stable salary, but he chose to return to Vietnam to pursue a career in agriculture.

Thanks to his own tireless efforts and hard work, in recent years he has achieved many successes in the agricultural sector.

Sharing about his time working in "farming", Mr. Hoang confided: "After a period of accumulating enough knowledge and experience from studying and talking with teachers in Binh Phuoc province, I saw what is needed to develop my hometown's agriculture.

When I was in France, I was also concerned about the fact that my country was very strong in agriculture, but when I went abroad, there were very few Vietnamese brands. Also because I grew up in agriculture, I decided to return home to start a business.

Besides, I also received encouragement from my teachers to learn to fulfill my dream of building a brand for local agricultural products in my hometown."

Mr. Minh Hoang also established the Binh Phuoc Province Digital Agricultural Cooperative, linking advanced farmers in the province and having a final purchasing channel without geographical limitations. Creating a mutually beneficial relationship for farmers.

His farm uses automated systems and covers an area of 50 hectares, including 12 hectares of native avocado trees that meet VietGAP standards, ranking top in clean fruit products, most chosen by consumers; vast rubber gardens; lush green pepper gardens that have been granted the world's leading prestigious USDA organic certification by the United States Department of Agriculture.

Regarding the reason for choosing to grow avocado trees, Mr. Hoang said: "I personally do not want to grow foreign tree varieties because it is like playing the lottery, sometimes those trees are not suitable for my climate and soil."

Recently, he has exported his products to two countries, Cambodia and Thailand. In the near future, he will export to China and Singapore. It is known that his farm harvests and sells about 30 tons of avocados every day, with an average price of 40kg/kg. Profit is 10 billion VND/year.

"You can do anything but you need passion"

Not only is he the owner of a farm, Mr. Hoang is also a lecturer and a passionate advocate of Digital Marketing at RMIT University. Mr. Hoang shared that when working and teaching with young people, he is always inspired by youth, so that he can always renew himself in dynamism, creativity and have new ideas for continuous development.

During the development process, Mr. Hoang learned from international brands to bring products to many countries.

Sharing more with reporters, Mr. Hoang said: "Thanks to having won many prestigious awards after many years of working, this has helped me to be able to promote the brand "for free". And what I do is not only for myself but also for the community, for my hometown. I believe that if you want to go far, you have to go together".

He added: "I am reaping the sweet fruits of what I am trying. Although there are climate changes that I really cannot control. But I should accept that because of "Heaven's time, earth's advantage, and people's harmony".

If we love nature, live in harmony with nature and follow nature, and do nothing to affect climate change, we will be favored by nature, creating a friendly and clean environment, close to workers. Those are values that cannot be measured in money."

Mr. Hoang and his business are steadfast in the criteria of organic production and clean production so that Vietnam can have national brands, especially agricultural products, to improve economic efficiency for farmers and export officially to international markets, earn foreign currency and pay taxes to the country.

"You can see me online and in the newspapers talking about my effort process quite easily, but behind that I had to put in a lot of sweat and effort. My success is also thanks to my ancestors and my own accumulated experience.

I am trying to develop organic agriculture to develop Vietnamese brands," Mr. Hoang shared.
