Open more classes, increase student numbers to 'cool down' 10th grade enrollment in Vinh

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa - Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Education and Training - said that to reduce the pressure on admission to grade 10 for the 2024-2025 school year in Vinh City, the department has a plan to add 3 classes to Huynh Thuc Khang, Ha Huy Tap, and Le Viet Thuat High Schools each.

Enrollment of 3 classes in grade 10 of Vinh University Practical High School. Thus, the total number of public grade 10 classes has increased by 12.

At the same time, consider increasing the enrollment quota for grade 10 for public high schools near Vinh City in Hung Nguyen, Nghi Loc such as Nghi Loc 3 High School and Thai Lao.

Increase the number of students in all classes, mainly from 42 to 45 students/class; in some special areas it can be up to 46-48 students/class.

Regarding the opening of second branches of public high schools in Vinh City, Mr. Khoa informed that this issue has been of interest to the industry and the province and has been implemented since 2022.

The Provincial People's Committee has held two meetings, however there are some problems such as funding sources, land funds for school construction... that need to be resolved.

Responding to Tuoi Tre Online , a leader of Huynh Thuc Khang High School, Vinh City - said that this school year the school has 20 10th grade classes; the students have to split into morning and afternoon shifts to have enough classrooms for three grades.

In case the 2024-2025 school year enrollment plan opens 3 more classes, the school must borrow more classrooms and request to increase the number of teachers to meet the demand.

Nghe An stops IELTS-based 10th grade admission

In the 10th grade admission plan for the 2024-2025 school year, Nghe An province will organize exams on June 5 and 6 with three subjects: math, literature and foreign language (English or French). The admission score is the total score of the three subjects and priority points (if any).

Unlike the past three years, the plan does not mention direct admission of candidates with international certificates according to the province's foreign language development project.
