Expanding Au Co Street

The representative of the Project Management Board said that they are overcoming the slow progress to be able to "finish" before June 30.

Due to the large traffic volume, especially from the inner city (Ba Dinh) to Noi Bai airport, while the road is only 2 lanes wide, since 2018, Hanoi city has approved the project to build An Duong intersection (phase 1) and upgrade and expand Nghi Tam - Au Co - Nhat Tan road (phase 2) to 6 to 8 lanes.

To widen the road, the investor, the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board), lowered the Red River dike through Au Co - Nghi Tam to replace it with a concrete dike.

The project was scheduled to be completed in 2020, however, according to the investor, due to many procedures, including licensing and agreements for lowering the dike, the project has not yet been completed and is delayed. This has greatly affected traffic in recent times.

In addition to causing congestion on the main road, the project construction site is "blocking" many residential roads for people to travel on both sides of Au Co - Nhat Tan road.

The project is not finished yet, people on both sides of the road are having difficulty getting through the construction site.

Talking to Tien Phong reporter about the current construction status of the project, a representative of the Hanoi Traffic Project Management Board has just said that up to now, the road expansion site from Yen Phu intersection to Nhat Tan bridge has been basically dug and widened, and contractors are being asked to work day and night to fill and pave the road surface.

The shape of Au Co - Nhat Tan road has appeared with a width of 6 to 8 lanes instead of 2 - 4 lanes as before.

The extensions are being filled and compacted to completion.

Currently, along the entire route of more than 3.7 km, many expanded sections, including the section passing through Hoa Quang An market, Nhat Tan Ward People's Committee has been paved with asphalt, preparing to put into use.

Regarding the project progress, a representative of the Hanoi Traffic Project Management Board informed Tien Phong reporter that the Board is speeding up construction to complete and open the project to technical traffic before June 30 this year.

According to the Traffic Project Management Board, to have a site for the project to be constructed quickly, the Au Co - Nghi Tam road section from Yen Phu to An Duong, the Transport - Police inter-agency is implementing a traffic diversion plan to prohibit cars from circulating. From now until June, vehicles traveling here will follow the Au Co - An Duong - Thanh Nien road route to Yen Phu road to access the An Duong intersection and Thanh Nien road.
