The North welcomes a strong cold front before Christmas

Around December 21-22, a strong cold air mass will flow into our country, the weather in the North will become cloudy, however, the daytime temperature will still be above 20 degrees, and at night it will drop sharply, fluctuating around 10 degrees.

This afternoon (December 19), the Southern Hydrometeorological Station forecasts that in the next 1-2 days, cold air will continue to strengthen in the Northern and Central provinces and diffuse weakly to the South. The subtropical high pressure has an axis through the Central region. The Northeast wind over the sea area east of the South will operate with strong intensity.

It is forecasted that around December 21-22, the cold air will strengthen and descend to the North. Above, the subtropical high pressure with an axis through the South Central - South regions will weaken and gradually retreat to the East. Around December 23-24, it will tend to encroach westward with an axis through the Central region. At the same time, around December 24, a disturbance formed offshore of the South East Sea will move west-northwest towards the mainland of the South. Northeast winds in the sea area east of the South will be moderate to strong.

With the above patterns, these days, the weather in the North maintains sunny days, cold weather with temperatures mainly around 20 degrees; especially, from evening to morning, the temperature drops very low, with a large difference from daytime, always at a cold level of about 9-13 degrees.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts the weather in the regions from now until about December 29. In particular, the North and Thanh Hoa from tonight (December 19) will have no rain, sunny days, early mornings in some places will have fog; cold weather, mountainous areas will have severe cold.

From the night of December 21, there will be rain in some places, and fog in some places in the early morning; from the night of December 21 to 22, there will be no rain at night and sunny days; the weather will be cold, with some places in the mountainous areas of the North experiencing severe cold.

Nghe An and Ha Tinh areas have rain in some places, from December 21st there will be scattered rain. Cold weather.

Due to the influence of the above-mentioned cold air patterns and disturbances, in the coming days, the Central and South Central regions will have scattered rain and showers and thunderstorms; from about December 23-25, there will be rain, moderate rain, locally heavy rain to very heavy rain and thunderstorms; from December 26, the rain will gradually decrease.

The Central Highlands and the South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms; from around the night of December 23-25, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy to very heavy rain. Thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind.
