According to The Verge , similar to the previous Echo VR game (also known as Echo Arena), Meta has suddenly stopped working on 3 other games on Rift and Quest virtual reality glasses, including Dead and Buried, Dead and Buried II and Bogo.
Meta shuts down three virtual reality games on Oculus for unknown reasons
In an email to users, Meta announced that Dead and Buried will no longer be supported on Rift, Rift S, or Quest devices as of March 15, 2024. UploadVR and Road to VR report that owners of the Dead and Buried II shooter series and virtual pet simulator Bogo are also receiving shutdown notices, which are also set for March 15 of next year.
Bogo , on the other hand, is not an online game that requires an online server to function, so it’s a bit puzzling that the game would be shut down instead of simply marking it as incompatible with newer devices. As for Dead and Buried II , it’s a $20 game, but it’s unclear whether Meta will refund the money buyers spent on it.
Despite the announcement of the end of support, Meta did not provide any explanation for the reason for this move. It seems that the company is still following the old way of ending product support without any specific reason. Previously, the game Echo Arena also was treated that way, but Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth later had to give his own explanation after the incident.
