Recently, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) concluded that striker Alejandro Papu Gomez used banned substances before participating in the 2022 World Cup with the Argentina team.

Gomez could be banned for two years for using banned substances.

According to AS, using banned substances could result in Gomez being suspended for up to two years.

This means that the 35-year-old player will likely have to end his "shorts - numbered shirt" career soon.

Back to a few days before the 2022 World Cup took place, FIFA suddenly sent someone to Sevilla to test Gomez for doping.

At that time, he admitted that he had taken his child's syrup for insomnia without consulting a doctor.

After that, the former Sevilla star still joined the Argentina team to attend the biggest football festival on the planet and won the championship.

But most recently, test results showed that Gomez used banned substances in sports.

Before this information, many opinions said that the Argentina team would be affected by Gomez's doping.

It could even cause Messi and his teammates to be stripped of the World Cup title. However, this certainly won't happen.

According to Article 11 of the World Anti-Doping Code, a team can only be stripped of its title if more than two members are involved in the use of banned substances.

As for Gomez, he is at risk of having his World Cup and Europa League medals stripped.

At the end of the 2022-2023 season, the Argentine veteran left Sevilla to join Serie A club Monza on a free transfer.

But with this ban, it is likely that Gomez's 1-year contract with the Italian team will soon be terminated.
