The DH17 crossroads route from My Son village to Trung Son village (Duy Phu commune) is considered one of the model routes that is bright - green - clean - beautiful.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Sau - Head of the Front Work Committee of My Son village said that this road is 350m long, 5.5m wide and has been hardened since 2019. The total investment cost is more than 650 million VND, from the state budget.
During the construction process, people living along both sides of the road voluntarily donated 500m2 of residential land, garden land and moved the gate fence to speed up the construction progress. Immediately after completion and put into use, people participated in planting flowers and trees, creating a clean and beautiful landscape.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hop - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Duy Phu commune said that, implementing the movement of joining hands to build new rural areas, the unit has promoted propaganda and mobilization work, creating positive response from the people.
The proof is that in the past 5 years, 384 local households have voluntarily donated 23,000m2 of land and structures, contributing nearly 2 billion VND to pour concrete on rural roads, intra-field roads, and solidify canals. "The electricity - road - school - station system of Duy Phu commune is increasingly spacious. All residential areas have cultural houses and are equipped with sports equipment to serve the needs of the people" - Ms. Hop shared more.
Over the past 5 years, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Duy Xuyen district has actively implemented the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas - civilized urban areas" with many good and effective ways, promoting the role of the people as the main subject.
Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Huong - Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Duy Xuyen district said that in the period of 2019 - 2024, the Front at all levels in the district mobilized people to donate 178,000m2 of land, contribute 17,379 working days and 104 billion VND to build infrastructure.
“By 2024, Duy Xuyen district will have 11 communes meeting the new rural standards, of which 3/11 communes will meet the advanced new rural standards, 28/58 villages will meet the model new rural residential area standards, and more importantly, Duy Xuyen will maintain the criteria to meet the new rural district standards... This is a premise and a great motivation for the locality to complete the goal of reaching the advanced new rural district by the end of 2025,” said Ms. Huong.
Accompanying the poor
For many years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha's family in Kieu Chau village (Duy Son commune) has lived in a seriously degraded house. In June 2024, Ms. Ha's family received great joy when the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Duy Xuyen district and Duy Son commune, along with benefactors, supported them with 100 million VND to build a new, solid house.
“By October 2024, the new house was completed, with a usable area of 70m2 , tiled floor, and tiled roof. The total investment cost was more than 250 million VND. With a stable place to live, I am also confident in increasing production and having more income to cover my living expenses,” Ms. Ha shared.
Realizing that supporting housing improvement for poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households in the area is a very important task, over the past 5 years, Duy Son Commune Front has mobilized maximum resources to support the repair and construction of 28 new Great Solidarity houses with a value of 750 million VND.
In addition, mobilize agencies, organizations, units and individuals to donate 7,158 gifts along with livelihoods, means of production, medical examination and treatment support, emergency assistance, etc. Thanks to that, it contributed to reducing the poverty rate from 2.8% in 2019 to 1.31% now.
Implementing the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - No one is left behind", recently, Duy Xuyen District Front has mobilized the whole community to join hands with sharing, helping the poor have more motivation to rise up in life.
Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Huong said that in the period of 2019 - 2024, the unit mobilized 14.6 billion VND from the Fund for the Poor, thereby supporting the construction and repair of 145 houses for poor and disadvantaged households; at the same time, eliminating 63 temporary houses with a minimum support level of 100 million VND/house.
The District Front also organized many dialogues with poor households to learn about their circumstances and aspirations, and provide livelihoods, thereby helping 326 households escape poverty sustainably. In addition, it supported production development, awarded scholarships to students, presented 836 gifts to people facing difficulties caused by natural disasters, visited and supported 6,692 cases with a total amount of more than 4.6 billion VND.
“The above activities bear the mark of solidarity and the spirit of solidarity of the community and society with the determination to leave no one behind,” said Ms. Huong.
