In the past time, waste collection and treatment has been identified as one of the key tasks, so the People's Committee of the commune has developed a plan to implement activities to implement the project "Collection and treatment of domestic waste in Dong Thanh commune for the period 2021-2025 with a vision to 2030". Accordingly, continue to raise awareness of all levels, sectors, and the community about waste collection and treatment. There is a reasonable investment direction in both human resources and funding to do a good job of managing, collecting and treating domestic waste in the commune, creating an increasingly green - clean - beautiful living environment.
In addition, the commune identifies the objects of collection and treatment of household waste as: Waste from households; waste from agencies, units, businesses, schools; waste from markets... According to statistics, about 80% of the volume of household waste is mainly organic matter (vegetables, tubers, fruits...); the rest is paper, nylon and plastic... To ensure good implementation of waste collection and transportation, the People's Committee of the commune requests the area heads to notify households or organizations, businesses to collect household waste in a sack and on the right day to go to the alley entrance for the garbage collection and transportation team to collect and transfer to the designated place.
For garbage, grass and trees are cleaned along the road and trees are cut on the road in residential areas when conducting general cleaning of village roads, residential areas must be responsible for self-treatment. It is absolutely forbidden to discharge waste indiscriminately in the wrong place, if found, it will be handled according to the provisions of the Law on Environmental Protection. Regarding waste collection, the commune has contracted with Viet Tri Urban Environment and Services Joint Stock Company to set collection hours and times on two days a week, Monday and Friday. Currently, the commune has 17 residential areas that will be divided into 3 routes for implementation.
In the assignment of tasks, the content of propaganda for collection activities is always focused on. Specifically, the Land and Environment officers preside over and guide the implementation of the plan; provide propaganda materials to the commune and residential area radio stations to carry out propaganda work, inspect and urge residential areas to carry out related work content.
At the same time, increase the time to reflect on environmental issues, especially regularly propagate the continued implementation of the project to collect and treat waste in the commune.
