On December 8, the Da Nang Department of Transport issued a notice warning vehicle owners about fraudulent schemes related to vehicle registration renewal occurring in the area.
Authorities have reported that some people impersonating officials from the Department of Transport or leaders and inspectors of motor vehicle inspection centers in Da Nang have called vehicle owners to inform them that their cars have expired inspections and need to renew their inspections.
Then, this group sends a link or QR code, asking the vehicle owner to access it to declare information, pay money to automatically renew, change stamps and get a new technical safety certificate.
However, when accessing this link or QR code to transfer money, the vehicle owner will have their money taken and personal information stolen.
Vehicle owners bring their vehicles to the Da Nang Motor Vehicle Inspection Center for inspection.
The Da Nang Department of Transport affirmed that, based on the provisions of the law on motor vehicle inspection activities, up to this point, there are no more vehicles subject to automatic extension of the inspection period (according to Clause 2, Article 3 of Circular 08/2023/TT-BGTVT dated June 2, 2023 amending and supplementing a number of articles of Circular No. 16/2021/TT-BGTVT dated August 12, 2021 of the Minister of Transport).
Therefore, all administrative procedures and vehicle inspections are carried out at inspection centers and all collections of service prices, fees and charges must have valid invoices and documents according to regulations.
“ The Da Nang Department of Transport informs people and vehicle owners to be vigilant and avoid being scammed by bad guys, ” the announcement said.
