With the motto of State support, community assistance, and family contribution to build houses, in recent years, Son La province has effectively implemented the policy of supporting housing construction for poor households in difficult circumstances. Thereby, helping people have more motivation to strive to stabilize their lives, gradually reducing poverty sustainably.
Identifying the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Son La province as a key political task, districts and cities in the province are currently focusing on leading and directing the implementation right from the beginning of the year. Accordingly, the province is determined to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the whole province before May 19. To do that, localities have come up with many creative and appropriate ways to complete the support for about 2,000 families to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in accordance with the set goals.
Typically in Mai Son district, the district Fatherland Front Committee has launched the Campaign "All people join hands to eliminate temporary houses for poor households". Immediately after the launch, 50 agencies, units, schools and philanthropists supported funds so that poor households can soon have new houses. Therefore, right after the Lunar New Year At Ty, up to now, the whole district has had 128 houses started construction, ensuring "3 hard" (hard foundation, hard frame, hard roof).
Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Mai Son district said that, together with the financial support from the superiors, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district has launched the Campaign "All people join hands to eliminate temporary houses for poor households" in 2025. In just 10 days after launching, the district received 1 billion 325 million VND. The district promptly disbursed this amount to households that had completed their houses after Tet.
In Quynh Nhai district, in order to complete the work of eliminating temporary houses, in addition to the central government's support capital, the district has also proactively and actively socialized the work of eliminating temporary houses. Ms. Vi Thi Tien - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district said that to ensure publicity and objectivity in supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses, the district has specified the steps in the implementation process. The district also directed the communes to review, vote and make a list, and develop specific support plans through people's meetings and village meetings. Along with that, the district has directed working groups to closely coordinate with the communes to conduct field inspections, go to each house to synthesize the house construction plan, and assign responsible staff. In the process of implementing the review and elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses, strict procedures, democratic and fair principles have always been ensured, contributing to the effective use of support resources, preventing exploitation, negativity and waste.
Through the review of districts and cities, as of January 2025, there are still 2,877 households in the province in need of housing support in 2025. To ensure funding for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses from the "For the Poor" Fund, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son La province has completed the allocation of 30 billion VND to districts and cities to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. From the provincial budget savings, the People's Committee of Son La province issued Decision No. 193 dated January 23, 2025 on targeted supplementation from the provincial budget to the district budget to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025 for 144 poor households with a support level of 60 million VND/household for new construction in the districts: Mai Son, Phu Yen, Yen Chau, Thuan Chau, Van Ho, Bac Yen, Sop Cop, Muong La, Quynh Nhai...
With the determination to complete the set goals, Son La province has strengthened the leadership and direction of the Party Committee, the government, the coordination of the Fatherland Front, mass organizations, and armed forces in organizing the implementation of support for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for policy households, poor households, and near-poor households. In addition, the province also continues to thoroughly disseminate and consistently disseminate the content of the housing support program and policies as well as the meaning and role of the work of supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses so that people can understand and, from there, implement it more strongly and drastically.
