TPO - On the morning of July 9, Phu Quoc Express Joint Stock Company announced the temporary suspension of the high-speed ferry route from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao and vice versa from July 29.
Accordingly, Phu Quoc Express said that recently, the number of passengers traveling by train has not reached the desired level, leading to ineffective operation of this passenger transport route.
Mr. Vu Van Khuong - General Director of Phu Quoc Express said that the operation of the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route in the past has had many shortcomings, affecting the choice of tourists. Having to transfer passengers from the center to Hiep Phuoc port, having to move inside the port by themselves as well as having to pay additional port fees also causes difficulties for passengers.
Therefore, Phu Quoc Express has decided to temporarily suspend passenger transport on this route to find a more suitable solution for passenger transport in Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Khuong said that after finding a new suitable solution, the unit will submit it to the authorities for consideration and arrangement to resume operation of the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route.
Thang Long Express Train on its opening day in Ho Chi Minh City |
Currently, due to the temporary suspension of the Ho Chi Minh City-Con Dao route, Thang Long Express will focus on serving passengers on the Vung Tau-Con Dao route. Phu Quoc Express will increase the frequency of operations on this route to meet the travel needs of local people in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province as well as tourists in the near future.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao sea route was launched by Phu Quoc Express from May 13, 2024. With the operation of the modern Thang Long high-speed train with more than 1,000 seats, this route is considered to be a bright spot for Ho Chi Minh City tourism in connecting Ho Chi Minh City tourists with Con Dao. However, due to objective reasons, the number of passengers on this route has remained quite low over the past 2 months.
