Proposed mechanism for students to receive degrees from 3 universities

On the afternoon of April 3, at the Ministry of Education and Training, Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University and Hanoi University of Science and Technology signed a cooperation agreement on research and development of strategic technology associated with business cooperation.

The goal of strengthening cooperation between the three universities is to promote the potential and strengths of each institution in training talents, scientific research, technology transfer, innovation, and digital transformation for the development of each party, contributing to the development of education, training, and science and technology of the country.

Build these universities into centers of excellence in training talented human resources, attracting talents, and conducting scientific research to serve the development of strategic technology and innovation fields in Vietnam and the region, with close cooperation from businesses.

Improve the efficiency of investment in facilities, exploitation and use of resources of 3 universities.

The cooperation content includes: Cooperation in training high-quality, highly-skilled human resources. In particular, coordinating the development of high-quality talent training programs, especially postgraduate training in key and spearhead fields in the direction of jointly organizing training (students are required to study and participate in research at all three universities and intern/practice at partner enterprises); researching and proposing a mechanism for graduates of this program to receive degrees from all three universities while strengthening cooperation and association with foreign partners to organize training in cooperative programs.

Implement credit assessment and recognition in training programs to enhance student exchange in the form of on-site study abroad (students from one of the three universities can study, accumulate credits, do internships/practices, participate in research groups, and conduct research at the facilities of the three universities and partner enterprises).

Build a program to exchange lecturers, researchers, and guest lecturer models between 3 universities.

Cooperation in core technology research, development of strategic technology products associated with talent attraction, investment attraction and business cooperation. This content prioritizes investment in upgrading infrastructure serving key research and development associated with talent training, cooperation with businesses, attracting private investment in science and technology development, especially in strategic, key and spearhead technology fields.

At Hanoi National University, there is the High-Tech and Innovation Park; Ho Chi Minh City National University, there is the Innovation Center; Hanoi University of Science and Technology is a complex of centers of excellence in strategic technology.

In addition, there is also the construction of a database system and shared resources; organizing conferences, seminars, developing cooperation and attracting international scholars...

3 universities exploit their strengths together

Deputy Director of Hanoi National University Pham Bao Son proposed that the three universities work together to build and exploit science and technology infrastructure. Share and use existing facilities, laboratories, and research centers of each school, and coordinate investment in building large-scale, modern shared research centers; jointly carry out major science and technology tasks; and jointly cooperate with businesses.

The three universities have built a mechanism for businesses to deeply participate in the training, research and technology transfer process, from ordering research topics, jointly exploiting laboratories, to investing in start-up and spin-off projects.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said that the Ministry highly appreciates the top three universities in Vietnam in the field of science and technology.

Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Dang Chinh said that the strengths of Hanoi University of Science and Technology are reflected in science, technology and innovation. Hanoi University of Science and Technology is oriented to develop according to the model of a complex of strategic technology excellence centers associated with attracting, developing talents and postgraduate training, within the ecosystem of scientific research, innovation, digital transformation and talent training of the school.

From here, core technologies and technological solutions with outstanding value will be created in strategic technology areas including data and artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, blockchain, electronics, semiconductors, chips, digital technology, robotics and automation, IoT, 5G/6G, new and renewable energy, environment, biotechnology, advanced materials, space, etc.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said that the Ministry highly appreciates the three leading universities in Vietnam in the field of science and technology - places that require the best in strategic technologies, leading in digital technology, and research on artificial intelligence.

Each university has conducted successful research and issued action programs, organized research centers, science and technology parks, and strategic research complexes.

With the joint efforts of universities, to cooperate strategically, implement Resolution 57, share resources, cooperate together in training, implement common training programs, common tasks, attract talents, lecturers, scientists at home and abroad.
