TPO - Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) said that the thorough handling cannot be carried out because some related construction contractors are in the process of being tried by the court. Currently, the company has directed the mobilization of equipment and human resources to complete the entire repair before September 30.
Recently, according to people's feedback, the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway has continuously appeared bumps and ruts, causing safety risks for vehicles traveling on the route.
Faced with this situation, the Vietnam Road Administration and Road Management Area III have repeatedly requested VEC and the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway Operation and Exploitation Center to repair damaged structures and overcome shortcomings in regular management and maintenance.
On September 19, providing information on this issue, VEC said that during the operation process, the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway Operation Center (a affiliated unit) regularly checked and counted damaged locations on the route; discovered some peeling, cracking, and rutting spots and quickly repaired them at emergency locations.
However, thorough handling cannot be carried out because some related construction contractors are in the process of being tried by the court.
“At the end of June, after the final court ruling, VEC and contractors determined the responsibility to resolve related issues, creating a legal basis for developing a plan to repair road surface damage in the previous phase. This is also one of the reasons for the existence of bulging and rutting spots as reported by some press agencies,” VEC explained.

According to VEC, the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway Operation Center has been asked to seriously learn from experience in detecting and promptly repairing damage to the project, and has directed the unit to urgently repair all potholes. To date, the Center has completed 13 locations and is continuing to review and repair them as soon as they are discovered, especially in the face of storms expected to hit the Central region in the near future.
According to this year's maintenance plan, VEC has allocated VND31.2 billion for emergency repairs on the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway. For some locations that are peeling and rutting, directly affecting traffic safety, VEC has directed and urged the Center to mobilize equipment and human resources to complete the repairs before September 30.
For the remaining locations, VEC said it has established a team to conduct a general inspection, review and implement a repair plan to ensure quality of operations in the coming time.
"We are making efforts to speed up the selection of contractors to implement the road surface repair package (in the annual plan) with a value of 15 billion VND. The time to repair the road surface condition will start from October and is expected to be completed in November this year. In addition, to control the situation of overloaded vehicles entering the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway, the corporation has implemented a plan to arrange a vehicle load control weighing system at the entrance points to the expressway, expected to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2025", said a representative of VEC.
