The People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has just issued Document No. 2921/UBND-VP proposing to the Government to build an expressway from Long Thanh airport to Ho Tram with a total investment of 17,000 billion VND. Of which, the cost of site clearance is 4,500 billion VND.
This expressway is 41km long, starting from Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 (Chau Duc district) and ending at Vung Tau - Binh Thuan coastal road (Xuyen Moc district) with an initial scale of 4 lanes, design speed of 100 km/h, expected to expand to 6 lanes in the future.
Ba Ria - Vung Tau also proposed to include this project in the provincial planning, and at the same time remove Go Gang airport from the planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. To speed up the progress, the locality proposed to convert the purpose of forest land use for the last 6.4 km of the route and implement the project under the form of public-private partnership (PPP).
The local leader said that when Long Thanh International Airport comes into operation, people from the provinces of the Southeast and Southwest regions; Long Hai and Phuoc Hai tourist areas,... to the airport will have to go through many densely populated areas, with limited traffic speed due to high traffic density.
Therefore, a new expressway connecting Long Thanh to Ho Tram is necessary, contributing to the completion of the transportation network, helping to strongly develop the tourism service industry. Currently, the routes from Long Thanh airport to Ho Tram pass through many residential areas, with crowded and mixed traffic, taking a long time to travel. Therefore, the tourism potential in Ho Tram has not been fully exploited. Therefore, a new route connecting the two locations is needed so that after Long Thanh airport is put into operation, it will help the local tourism industry develop towards international standards.
