On June 24, the People's Committee of Nam Giang district, Quang Nam province, said that the Gong Festival is a cultural activity held every two years to preserve and promote the cultural identity of the local highland people, while promoting and introducing to friends and tourists the unique and typical traditional cultural features of ethnic minorities: Co Tu, Ve, Ta Rieng... contributing to promoting Nam Giang district's tourism products to tourists.
The 6th Nam Giang District Gong Festival with the theme "Nam Giang - Sparkling cultural colors" had the participation of 12 groups with 800 artisans and mass actors from 12 communes and towns across the district.
The 6th Gong Festival 2024 will take place from June 25-26, 2024 at the District Stadium Complex (Thanh My town, Nam Giang district, Quang Nam province).
At the Festival, there will be special activities such as: Traditional culinary competition and space to display historical and cultural artifacts, typical products of localities and performances of traditional musical instruments, traditional crafts (weaving, brocade weaving, sculpture);
Performance of traditional costumes of ethnic minorities; Performance of gong and cymbal art; Performance of excerpts from rituals: Land worship ceremony of the Co Tu people, Traditional wedding ceremony of the Co Tu people, New rice celebration ceremony of the Ta Rieng people and Traditional wedding ceremony of the Ve people...
The opening ceremony of the Festival will take place at 7:30 p.m. on June 25 with a special art program, elaborately staged performances, introducing a colorful picture showing unique traditional cultural features, rich in identity, customs, daily lifestyle of the people in the mountainous region of Nam Giang and the highlight is the gong performance - Dinh Tut from the communes along with a majestic gong concert program, resounding majestically in the mountains and forests.
Nam Giang is a land located on the Truong Son mountain range and on the legendary Ho Chi Minh trail of Quang Nam province, a long-standing residence of the indigenous peoples Co Tu, Ve, Ta Rieng and some ethnic groups from the northern provinces. In terms of culture, Nam Giang is like a brilliant, colorful picture, a place where traditional beauty converges with characteristics but is also extremely rich and diverse in form and content expressed through tangible and intangible cultural values.
