On March 4, Ms. Hoang Thi Ben - Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Cu Ewi Commune (Cu Kuin District, Dak Lak) - said that people found 3 children cycling nearly 50km to find their father because they missed him.
"Luckily, the children were brought home safely and have returned to school," Mrs. Ben breathed a sigh of relief.
Three brothers cycle 50km to find their father
Before that, on the evening of March 1, Mr. Hoang Van Cao (60 years old, resident of Cu Ewi commune) came back from the field and could not find his 3 grandchildren, HVK - 10 years old, HVB - 8 years old and his youngest daughter HTT - 5 years old. He went around the neighborhood and went to some acquaintances' houses to look for his grandchildren but could not find them.
Fearing something bad, he informed his neighbors and many people went to the lakes, checked security cameras along the road and posted information online to find the 3 children... The information was quickly shared by fanpages in Dak Lak.
At around 11:30 p.m. the same day, when Mr. Cao was in a state of confusion and worry, he received news that his three grandchildren had been found at Tay Nguyen University (Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak), nearly 50km from where he lived.
According to Mr. Cao, after the posts were made, someone caught the children cycling through the gate of Tay Nguyen University so they stopped them.
"Everyone fed the children dinner, bought milk and candy, and kept the three children for their families to pick them up. I didn't expect them to cycle nearly 50km," Mr. Cao recalled.
The grandfather of the three children added that the distance the children cycled was very far and it was dark. Fortunately, all the children were safe and sound.
"I missed my dad so much that I went to look for him."

When the kind people took them home, the whole family realized that the children had gone out on their own to look for their father because they missed him so much.
According to Mr. Cao, the three brothers went looking for their father on two old bicycles with broken pedals.
Regarding the reason for cycling 50km, K. said "because he missed his father", then lowered his head and quietly wiped away his tears.
While tying her granddaughter's hair, Mrs. To Thi Luc (58 years old, the children's grandmother) said that her three grandchildren have very special circumstances.
All three children were born and raised in Dak Nong province. In 2021, while picking cashews in Binh Phuoc province, their mother disappeared without a trace, for unknown reasons, and has been unable to be contacted.
"My daughter-in-law hasn't returned for several years, and her phone number is also unreachable. The children's father works on the farm in Dak R'tih commune, Tuy Duc (Dak Nong), nearly 200 kilometers from home. The place where the children's father lives is a remote area with inconvenient roads, so my husband and I brought the children here to study," said Mrs. Luc.

According to Mrs. Luc, the children's father, HVT (Mrs. Luc's son), still comes to visit his children from time to time. Recently, the children often say they miss their father, or borrow their grandparents' phone to call their father. However, because of the busy farming work and the children are still in school, she has not been able to arrange for them to visit their father.
"Hearing the children say they were looking for their father because they missed him, my tears fell. My husband and I tried our best but could not make up for the children's lack of warmth and affection from their parents. I am truly guilty for not taking good care of them," Mrs. Luc choked up.
According to the children's grandmother, after the incident, the children's father called to discuss taking his children to Dak Nong. But the family advised their son to leave the children to his grandparents.
"The children study here, get used to the school and friends. If they go to Dak Nong, in the remote area, studying will be difficult," Ms. Luc confided.
