Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said that the Department of Tourism is collecting opinions from various sectors to advise the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and then will submit to the People's Council to deploy mechanisms and policies to support the implementation of the above project on Can Gio tourism development. The three policies being collected for opinions are policies to attract tourists, policies to support human resource training and support tourism promotion.
The Department of Tourism will also focus on calling for the participation of the tourism ecosystem as well as strategic investors, focusing on two breakthrough tasks: building and forming the Can Gio national tourism area. “This March, the tourism industry will organize a conference to meet with businesses chaired by the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to listen to opinions from businesses in order to propose and remove difficulties and obstacles,” said Ms. Hoa.

Can Gio is located more than 40 km from the center of Ho Chi Minh City and is the only suburban district of the city bordering the sea. In addition to exploiting the marine economy, Can Gio also has the Can Gio World Biosphere Reserve with a total area of over 75,000 hectares, including mangrove forests and terrestrial and aquatic forest flora and fauna, formed on the vast delta of rivers such as Dong Nai River, Saigon River and Vam Co Dong and Vam Co Tay Rivers. In 2000, this Mangrove Forest was recognized by UNESCO as the first World Biosphere Reserve in Vietnam.

Currently, tourism in Can Gio is also developing strongly with many types such as sea resort tourism, eco-tourism, river tourism associated with craft village tourism, experiencing people's life, cultural tourism associated with spiritual festivals. Many destinations such as Thieng Lieng Island, Sac Forest, Monkey Island, Thach An Beach ... have more than 2 million visitors every year.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tran Hoang Phuong - Director of the Institute for Social Tourism Research (Vietnam Tourism Training Association), in terms of natural resources, Can Gio has a lot of potential for tourism development. Can Gio is the green lung of the City, a suitable place for eco-tourism and resort tourism. Currently, many travel companies have invested and developed tours in Can Gio in this direction.
