Natural Science University benchmark scores fluctuate

Mr. Phung Quan, admissions consultant, University of Science, Ho Chi Minh City National University, commented that the benchmark scores of universities in the South (from Quang Binh to Ca Mau) this year have slightly fluctuated.

For schools with a benchmark score of 26 or higher last year, enrolling students in groups A00 and A01, this year the benchmark score may remain the same or decrease slightly, except for very hot majors. On the contrary, if enrolling students in groups B00 and D01, the benchmark score may increase by 0.25 points.

A series of top universities in the South predict a 0.25 - 1 - 1 decrease in admission scores

Many major universities in Ho Chi Minh City predict a decrease in benchmark scores.

In the group of majors with benchmark scores last year ranging from 21 to 26 points, considering the combination of A00 and A01, the admission rate this year may remain the same or increase slightly; the benchmark score of combination B00 is predicted to increase more strongly.

"Competition in hot majors and top schools may be more fierce than previous years because many good candidates have certainly chosen the early admission method, and there are few remaining quotas," Mr. Quan predicted.

As for Ho Chi Minh City University of Science, this person said that the benchmark scores for Computer Science, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence in recent years have always been high, far from the remaining majors.

This year, in terms of the competency assessment test scores, the benchmark score for Computer Science is 1,035/1,200 points. This level is achieved by only about 200 out of 90,000 candidates. Therefore, the benchmark score for Computer Science and Information Technology may increase slightly. "This trend may also occur in most technology industries related to computers," he said.

Meanwhile, the benchmark scores for the Natural Sciences and Basic Sciences groups may not change compared to last year. Therefore, for candidates who love hot majors but have low test scores or equivalent, 0.5 lower than last year's benchmark scores.

Mr. Quan recommends registering for more basic science majors that provide training in basic knowledge and skills close to the desired major. For example, if you do not have enough points to enter the Information Technology major, you can consider the Mathematics and Informatics major.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Science will enroll about 3,500 students through 5 methods. Of which, 30-50% of the quota is for admission based on high school graduation exam results.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade decreased by 2 - 3 points

The admission score of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (formerly Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry) is expected to decrease sharply by 2-3 points compared to last year.

Accordingly, Master Pham Thai Son, Director of the school's Admissions and Communications Center, said that the major with the highest expected admission score is still Marketing and Chinese Language with about 22 points, a decrease of 2 points compared to last year.

The benchmark for International Business, Accounting, Banking and Finance, Information Technology and English Language can be around 21 points or more. Last year, these majors had a benchmark of 23.5 points.

Meanwhile, majors such as Business Administration, Economic Law, Tourism and Travel Services Management have an expected benchmark score of 20 - 2 1, down 2-3 points compared to last year. Majors with a benchmark score of 16 - 17 last year may be stable.

Forecast of admission scores for 32 training majors of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade in 2023.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade will enroll about 6,300 students for 33 training majors. In 2022, the school's admission score based on high school graduation exam scores ranges from 16 to 24, with the highest scores being Marketing and Chinese Language.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology's benchmark score decreased

Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Thang, Head of Training Department, University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) said that this year's Natural Science exam was more difficult than last year. Therefore, the benchmark scores for many majors at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology will decrease.

According to Mr. Thang, the benchmark scores for less popular majors such as Industrial Maintenance, Construction Engineering, Infrastructure, and Mechanics may be lower than last year.

"Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Logistics, Mechatronics, and Automotive Engineering are still very hot, but schools are expanding training so the benchmark scores may not increase," he said.

In addition, the interdisciplinary - multidisciplinary direction is growing strongly. Candidates interested in Electronics can learn more about some related fields, which have many similarities such as Materials, Engineering Physics to increase the possibility of passing the entrance exam to their favorite field.

For candidates with low test scores, he advises to set many wishes because "if you don't register your wishes, the chance of passing is zero. If you register, the chance is small but still there."

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology recruits 5,150 students through 5 methods. For the admission method combining the ability assessment test scores, high school graduation exam scores, academic records, and other abilities (certificates, awards), the school reserves 60 - 90% of the total quota. In 2022, the highest admission score of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is 75.99 for the Computer Science major.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry scores down

Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Head of Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, predicts that the university admission score based on the high school graduation exam results will decrease.

Specifically, the benchmark scores for engineering and technology majors that are recruited using the combination of A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), A01 (Math, Physics, English), C01 (Math, Literature, Physics) and D01 (Math, Literature, English) will decrease by about 0.5-1 point. For majors that are recruited using the combination of B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology), the benchmark scores will remain stable as last year or increase by 0.5-1 point.

This year, the school enrolls more than 8,000 students for 45 majors and groups of majors. The floor score of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry based on graduation exam scores is 19 for general programs; 18 points for high-quality, joint programs. For the Quang Ngai branch, the school has a floor score of 17. Last year, the school's standard score fluctuated between 24-26.

Top universities in the South predict admission scores to decrease by 0.25 - 1 - 5

Schools recruiting students based on blocks A, A1, C are forecasting a standard score decrease of 0.25 -1 point.

What is the entrance score to the School of Humanities?

Master Tran Nam, Head of the Department of Communications and Corporate Relations, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University) commented that this year's benchmark scores of the school are likely to be the same as last year or slightly adjusted.

"The average score of blocks C00 and D01 increased or decreased by less than 0.5 compared to last year, so the benchmark scores for majors using these two combinations are likely to remain the same or increase or decrease insignificantly, within the range of 0.5-1 point," said Mr. Nam.

In 2023, the school will enroll 3,599 students for 34 majors and training programs. Mr. Nam said that the number of early admission applications this year is much lower than last year. Therefore, there are still many opportunities for candidates to be admitted based on their high school graduation exam results.

Last year, the school's graduation exam score benchmark ranged from 20 to 28.25, with the highest being Journalism in group C00.

University of Economics and Law reduced 0.5 points

MSc. Cu Xuan Tien, Head of Admissions and Student Affairs Department, University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) said that this year's benchmark scores will tend to decrease slightly for the admission combination A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry) and increase slightly for the groups with the admission combination A01 (Math, Physics, English), D01 (Math, Literature, English), D07 (Math, Chemistry, English), B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology).

"The school's benchmark scores for majors may decrease slightly by about 0.5 points, or equivalent to 2022," he said. The reason is that the school's admission quota based on high school graduation exam scores is not much left (40% of the total 2,400 quotas).

He also predicted that majors such as International Business, E-commerce, International Economics, and Marketing, which are highly competitive and attract many candidates, will not have their benchmark scores decrease.

However, he also emphasized that this is only a prediction based on the score range, and the exact benchmark depends on the number and scores of candidates applying for the corresponding major. Therefore, candidates who are eligible for early admission to the major or school they want only need to register their first choice on the system.

If you still want to apply for admission based on your high school exam scores, you need to carefully research information about previous years' benchmark scores, tuition fees, and training programs. Mr. Tien suggests that candidates divide their preferences into three groups: the first group should have 2-3 preferences for their favorite majors, and the benchmark scores from previous years can be 0.5-1.5 points higher than the exam scores.

The middle group is the majors whose benchmark scores are similar to or differ by about 0.5 points from the exam scores. For this group, candidates should register for about 2-4 wishes.

The last group is for majors whose admission scores are 0.5-1.5 points lower than the current scores. Candidates should register 2-3 preferences in this group plus the preference they have already been admitted to early to ensure their chances of passing the university entrance exam.
