On the morning of September 19, Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Chief of Office of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, said that the leaders of this province have decided to let students in the whole province stay home from school to cope with storm No. 4 that could make landfall directly in the province.
Students and teachers across the province will be off from school from the morning of September 19 until further notice.
Education departments are responsible for informing all students and teachers in the area about this news, to avoid cases where students do not know and still go to school and then return home when the storm is about to hit.
According to the Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Thua Thien Hue province, due to the impact of the storm, on September 18 and early morning of September 19, there was heavy to very heavy rain in the province.
Total rainfall is generally 100-230mm, higher in some places such as Cau Truoi 267mm, Bach Ma 278.2mm.
On September 18, Thua Thien Hue province deployed measures to prevent and minimize damage caused by the storm. According to forecasts, storm No. 4 can cause heavy to very heavy rains and urban flooding and landslides in mountainous areas.
Mr. Dang Van Hoa, Chief of Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Thua Thien Hue province, said that the province has a plan to evacuate more than 3,000 households living in areas at risk of landslides and flash floods to safety.
The province has also directed the Border Guard and Maritime Port Authority to call on all ships to take shelter in safe places.
"Currently, we are still closely monitoring the path of storm No. 4 as well as the heavy rain and landslide situation in the province to promptly notify people to evacuate," said Mr. Hoa.
