Real Madrid and president Florentino Perez expect Alexander-Arnold to feature at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. |
After months of speculation, Alexander-Arnold is all but certain to move to Real Madrid. Reports in the English and Spanish media suggest the England defender has agreed terms with the La Liga giants.
Daily Mail even revealed that Real Madrid want to announce the Alexander-Arnold deal early, so that he can attend the FIFA Club World Cup in June. This opens up the opportunity for Liverpool to collect money for Alexander-Arnold.
Los Blancos' first match at the FIFA Club World Cup is on June 18, when they face Al Hilal. Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold's current contract with Liverpool expires after June 30. Therefore, if Real want to own Alexander-Arnold early to play in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, they will have to pay a fee to Liverpool to release the player's contract a few weeks in advance.
From June 1 to June 10, the European football summer transfer window is open, allowing clubs a short period of time to add to their squad or extend contracts with current players.
AS said Real Madrid are extremely eager to have Alexander-Arnold to participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. That would require Liverpool to agree to terminate the 26-year-old's contract early, and "The Kop" could demand a small compensation from the Spanish partner in the form of a transfer fee.
Real Madrid had previously attempted to sign Alexander-Arnold in January with a €25m offer, which Liverpool immediately rejected. However, that did not stop the right-back from moving to Real Madrid this summer.
