This final is also the first time Vietnamese badminton has participated in the final match of the men's doubles event in the Challenge system.
Underrated against their opponents, the Vietnamese duo with home field advantage and the opportunity to make history for Vietnamese badminton had a great performance.
In 3 dramatic sets, Dinh Hoang and Dinh Manh won with scores of 21-19, 15-21, 21-15. Notably, in the deciding set, the Vietnamese representative duo played with great confidence, creating a gap of up to 10-1 right at the beginning of the set.
Vietnam has the only championship in the tournament on home ground
Before entering this final match, Dinh Hoang and Dinh Manh had to pass the preliminary round.
Entering the main round, the Vietnamese representative duo continuously caused surprises when they defeated the world's 69th ranked duo - 3rd seed, Tori Aizawa - Daisuke Sano in round 1 and successively defeated representatives from Hong Kong (China), Thailand and Indonesia to reach the final.
The duo's Vietnam International Challenge 2025 championship is not only a personal achievement for Hoang and Manh, but also a milestone for Vietnamese badminton. This is an important turning point, affirming that Vietnamese men's doubles badminton is ready to conquer international playgrounds.
Tran Dinh Manh (left) and Nguyen Dinh Hoang won the men's doubles event at the Vietnam International Challenge.
With this victory, Hoang and Manh not only reached a historic milestone but also strengthened the position of Vietnam's men's doubles on the international badminton map. Previously, Vietnam had only won the doubles event once thanks to the mixed duo Do Tuan Duc and Pham Nhu Thao at the Vietnam International Challenge 2018.
At the Vietnam International Challenge 2025, men's doubles was also the only event of host Vietnam to reach the final, when expected names such as Le Duc Phat and Nguyen Hai Dang left the tournament early.
After this tournament, Vietnamese tennis players will continue to have the opportunity to participate in the 2025 Asian Championship. Therefore, the matches at the Vietnam International Challenge 2025 are an opportunity for each tennis player to accumulate experience to be ready for more important competitions.
