Hanoi International Film Festival

Reporting on the Project, Director of the Department of Cinema Vi Kien Thanh said: The Hanoi International Film Festival is held every two years, 2024 is the 7th Film Festival (HANIFF VII). This year's Film Festival is expected to take place over 5 days (from November 7-11, 2024).

Through the Film Festival, we aim to introduce outstanding Vietnamese and international films to domestic and international film lovers; discover new talents of Vietnamese and international cinema; connect and exchange for mutual development and cooperation between Vietnamese and international filmmakers, film distributors, and film artists.

The event attracts the attention of domestic and international audiences to cinema, creating creative inspiration and motivation to build and develop the Vietnamese film industry. According to Mr. Vi Kien Thanh, it is expected that this year the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival will organize more outdoor events (held at Tran Nhan Tong walking street in front of Thong Nhat Park or Nha Trumpet Flower Garden behind Ly Thai To statue) with activities such as: Displaying information and promoting film producers, domestic and international film distributors, foreign cultural centers in Vietnam; Introducing cinema from countries such as Japan, Germany, Russia, China, Korea...; Organizing exchanges with film crews, film artists,... These activities are meaningful in promoting Vietnamese cinema in particular and world cinema in general to the public, especially the youth.

Speaking to contribute to the Project, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation Tran Hai Van emphasized that this is a meaningful event, contributing to the promotion and development of Vietnamese cinema. Meanwhile, the Festival only lasts 5 days but with many activities, the Department of Cinema needs to divide specific tasks, according to expertise, avoiding overlap, to achieve the highest efficiency.
