Vietnam Chess Federation launches new Executive Committee

On August 12-13 in Hanoi, the Vietnam Chess Federation held its second congress (2023-2028) to elect new personnel. At this session, the executive committee elected 33 members. Of which, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh - Deputy Director of VTC Digital Television Station was elected to hold the position of President of the Vietnam Chess Federation for the second term.

In addition, 6 Vice Presidents include Mr. Luu Duc Hai, Ms. Hoang Dinh Chung, Mr. Ton That Luong Chinh, Mr. Doan Duy Kien, Mr. Pham Thu Ha, and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung. Ms. Ngo Thinh Huong (Deputy Director of the Information and Communications Center - Department of Sports and Physical Training) was appointed as General Secretary of the Vietnam Chess Federation for the 2nd term.

Speaking at the Congress, Director of the Department of Physical Training and Sports (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) Dang Ha Viet said that the industry leaders highly appreciated the frank recognition and pointing out of the limitations and shortcomings in the first term of the Federation, thereby finding solutions to overcome them in the next term as in the report that the Executive Committee just presented to the Congress.

During this second term, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Chess Federation will promote socialization, communication and fundraising activities, thereby finding more financial resources for the Federation to operate more strongly. At this time, the Law and Referee Committee has coordinated with the Federation Office to organize the translation and editing of the Vietnam Chess Law 2021.

Regarding high-performance competitions, Vietnamese chess participated in the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia and won a Gold Medal for individual standard chess, 1 Gold Medal for team rapid chess, 1 Silver Medal for individual standard chess, 1 Silver Medal for team blitz chess, and 1 Bronze Medal for individual standard chess.

In September 2023, the Vietnamese chess team will participate in ASIAD 19 - 2022 and the goal is to strive to win a Gold Medal.
