Exciting national chess tournament for the elderly to compete for the Traphaco Cup 2024

In early August, the 2024 Traphaco Cup National Senior Chess Tournament officially took place at the Ba Dinh Sports Center (Hanoi). The event was organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Elderly Association in coordination with the Department of Sports and Physical Training and the Vietnam Chess Federation, with the main sponsorship of Traphaco Joint Stock Company.

Attending the event were Mr. Phan Van Hung - Vice President of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh - President of the Vietnam Chess Federation; along with officials of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, the Vietnam Chess Federation, representatives of clubs and athletes. As the main sponsor, Traphaco had Ms. Dao Thuy Ha - Deputy General Director of the Company representing the participation.

Ms. Dao Thuy Ha - Deputy General Director of Traphaco and representatives of the Organizing Committee presented the Souvenir Flag to the delegations, officially starting the tournament. The event aims to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, as well as the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital and the International Day of Older Persons. This is also an opportunity to improve the health, spirit and community connection of the elderly through a useful intellectual playground. The tournament took place from August 1 to August 4, with the participation of 240 athletes from more than 100 clubs of 28 delegations nationwide. The athletes competed in 16 sets of medals according to the Swiss system, with the events of men's team, women's team, men's individual and women's individual in 4 age groups: 40-50, 51-60, 61-70 and over 70.

Players compete at the 2024 National Senior Chess Tournament After two days of exciting competition, the Quang Ninh delegation won first place overall with 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 3 bronze medals. The Hanoi delegation ranked second with 3 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 6 bronze medals, while Dien Bien ranked third with 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 4 bronze medals. The Veteran Award was awarded to 87-year-old player Hoang Duc Hien from Cao Bang. Accompanying the event, Traphaco not only sponsored the tournament but also brought meaningful gifts to the athletes.
