Stock trading holiday schedule for New Year 2024

Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) and Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HoSE) have announced the trading holiday schedule for the 2024 New Year holiday.

Accordingly, stock trading will be closed on Monday (January 1, 2024), according to the Labor Code. Stock trading will return to normal from Tuesday (January 2, 2024).

Securities transactions with T+2 settlement cycles made on December 28, 2023 and December 29, 2023 will be settled on January 2, 2024 and January 3, 2024, respectively.

Securities transactions with a T+1 settlement cycle executed on December 29, 2023 will be settled on January 2, 2024.

Thus, according to the announced 2024 New Year holiday schedule, the stock market will be closed on Monday (January 1, 2024) and will return to normal stock trading from Tuesday (January 2, 2024).

Notice of holiday schedule for payment of securities transactions on Lunar New Year 2024

Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 2780/UBCK-PTTT dated May 13, 2022 of the State Securities Commission on the announcement of the 2024 trading holiday schedule, pursuant to the Labor Code, the Vietnam Securities Depository (VSD) announces the 2024 securities transaction settlement holiday schedule as follows:

(1) New Year 2024: Closed on Monday, January 1, 2024

(2) Lunar New Year 2024: Closed from Thursday, February 8, 2024 (December 29, 2023 Lunar calendar) to Wednesday, February 14, 2024 (5th day of Lunar New Year) according to the Labor Code corresponding to 07 days.

Thus, the date to return to stock trading after Lunar New Year 2024 is from Thursday (February 15, 2024).

Notice of Lunar New Year 2024 holiday schedule: 7 consecutive days off

Notice 5015/TB-LĐTBXH dated November 22, 2023 on Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2024 for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers.

Specifically, cadres, civil servants, public employees and employees of administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations and socio-political organizations will have Lunar New Year holiday 2024 from Thursday, February 8, 2024 to Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

This holiday includes 5 days off for Lunar New Year and 2 days off in lieu of weekly holidays as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.

For employees not included in the above subjects, the employer decides to choose the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday plan as follows: choose 01 last day of the year of Quy Mao and 04 first days of the year of Giap Thin or 02 last days of the year of Quy Mao and 03 first days of the year of Giap Thin or 03 last days of the year of Quy Mao and 02 first days of the year of Giap Thin.

- Notify employees of the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday plan at least 30 days before implementation.

- If the weekly day off coincides with a public holiday as prescribed in Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code, the employee shall be entitled to take a compensatory weekly day off on the next working day as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.

- Encourage employers to apply Lunar New Year holidays for employees as prescribed for civil servants and public employees.

Stock trading holidays on HoSE and HNX in 2024

In 2024, the stock trading holidays on HoSE and HNX are as follows:

- New Year 2024: Payment holiday: Monday, January 1, 2024.

- Lunar New Year 2024: Payment holidays: From Thursday, February 8, 2024 (December 29, 2023 according to the Lunar calendar) to Wednesday, February 14, 2024 (the 5th day of the Lunar New Year).

- Hung King's Commemoration Day (10th day of the 3rd lunar month) 2024: Payment day off: Thursday, April 18, 2024.

- Liberation of the South April 30 and International Labor Day May 1, 2024: Payment holidays: From Tuesday, April 30, 2024 to Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

- National Day 2024: Payment holidays: Monday, September 2, 2024 and Tuesday, September 3, 2024 (1 consecutive day after).
