The Lebanese army is redeploying forces along its southern border, following reports that Israel is preparing to launch limited military operations inside the territory.

According to AFP news agency, an unnamed military official said the Lebanese army is "repositioning and regrouping forces" in the southern border area, in case Israel attacks Hezbollah targets.
The move took place in the context that early on October 1, the Israeli army issued a statement announcing the start of a limited ground offensive against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.
Earlier, on September 30, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) called on residents in three areas in southern Beirut, including Metula, Misgav Am and Kfar Giladi, to evacuate. The areas surrounding these places were turned into closed military zones, prohibiting residents from entering or leaving.
The international community has expressed concern about the tense situation. On September 30, US President Joe Biden and the United Nations (UN) both spoke out against Israel's planned ground attack on Lebanon.
On the same day, Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly called for a complete end to the conflict in Lebanon and urged Hezbollah and Israel to accept an immediate ceasefire.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said he had discussed the situation in the Middle East with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu and stressed the need to de-escalate tensions.
Meanwhile, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan proposed that the UN General Assembly recommend the use of force if the Security Council fails to stop the situation. He also called on Muslim countries to take economic, diplomatic and political measures against Israel.
