In the 2021-2025 medium-term public investment plan, the health sector has 42 projects with a total investment of VND 20,426.9 billion. Of which, 35 projects have been approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council for investment policy of VND 13,789.9 billion.
In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned 7 projects to prepare pre-feasibility study reports and investment proposal reports with a total investment of 6,635 billion VND, including the project to build Block A of the Orthopedic Trauma Hospital with an investment capital of 1,500 billion VND and the main building of Binh Dan Hospital with an investment capital of 1,600 billion VND.
In the 2026 - 2030 medium-term public investment plan, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Health to prepare a pre-feasibility study report and a report proposing investment policies for 65 projects with a total investment of VND 48,771 billion. Of which, there are 6 group A projects with a total investment of VND 16,494 billion. Of which, the project to build a Trauma and Orthopedics Hospital at Tan Kien Medical Cluster (Binh Chanh District) with VND 3,940 billion. The Trauma and Orthopedics Hospital needs to invest in 1,000 beds, with this scale in the future, it will help reduce the burden of emergency trauma for general and specialized hospitals in the central medical cluster.
Psychiatric Hospital 2 (Thu Duc City) 3,600 billion VND. There are 53 group B projects with a total investment of 31,866 billion VND; 6 group C projects with a total investment of 411 billion VND.
Previously, the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health had proposed that the City People's Committee promptly consider and approve the project to build a new Mental Hospital (Tan Phu Ward, Thu Duc City) and Orthopedic Trauma Hospital (Tan Kien Medical Area, Binh Chanh District). These are two hospitals that have been overloaded and degraded for many years and have been proposed and recommended many times for solutions.
