Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Manh Dong, Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, hoped that through the training course, each trainee would be a true ambassador in spreading the love of Vietnamese language to each overseas Vietnamese, family and community; at the same time, helping teachers expand their understanding of the history and culture of the nation. This is also an opportunity for teachers to feel more deeply the love and pride for their homeland and country; a valuable source of inspiration that not only helps teachers convey language knowledge but also the national spirit to generations of Vietnamese people abroad.

"With the knowledge and skills that teachers have acquired in this training course, I believe that they will successfully apply them to teaching practice. Vietnamese language classes will not only be a place to learn, but also a place to awaken love for the homeland and country in the hearts of young overseas Vietnamese generations," said Mr. Nguyen Manh Dong.

Sharing her feelings after completing the training course, Ms. Hoang Thi Lai, a Thai expatriate, said that being born and raised in Thailand, she always had a lot of affection and desire to learn about the culture and history of the nation, especially her mother tongue, Vietnamese. After the training course, returning to Thailand, Ms. Hoang Thi Lai said that she will coordinate with Vietnamese communities in Thailand to set up classes and facilities to teach and learn Vietnamese, spreading Vietnamese in every family. From there, generations born and raised in Thailand will love and be more connected to the Fatherland through their mother tongue.

Sharing about the good impressions of Vietnamese from foreign friends in Switzerland, Ms. Tran Dinh Linh Phuong, a Swiss expatriate, said: "During an introduction session abroad, when I used Vietnamese to introduce myself and my country, I was surprised when I received support and compliments from international friends. They said that I speak Vietnamese very well, with tones and rhythmic sounds. I am very proud of Vietnamese. Therefore, when I had the opportunity to return to the country for training, I volunteered to register. After the training course, I love, am proud of, and respect my mother tongue and my ancestors' origins even more. I hope that with my enthusiasm and love for the job, after returning to Switzerland, I can pass on my knowledge and love for Vietnamese to generations born and raised in the country" - Ms. Linh Phuong shared.

After 2 weeks of training, Mr. Duoangluxeay Douan Oupatham, a teacher at Nguyen Du Lao-Vietnamese Bilingual School, said that he had learned a lot of useful professional knowledge and improved the quality of his Vietnamese lessons when he returned to Laos to work. Mr. Duoangluxeay Douan Oupatham hopes that through each lesson, students will not only be able to read, speak and write Vietnamese but also understand the history and promote the national identity of the Vietnamese community in Laos; and preserve and foster the special solidarity between Laos and Vietnam.

The Vietnamese language teaching training course for Vietnamese teachers abroad is an annual activity, aiming to improve the qualifications and pedagogical skills, and update knowledge for professional and non-professional teachers who are teaching Vietnamese at Vietnamese language facilities of the community.

The 12th training course in 2024, organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in coordination with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), took place from December 1 to 15, 2024, in Hanoi.

The trainees attended 17 classroom training sessions on Vietnamese language teaching methods taught by lecturers from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; attended the seminar "Vietnamese language teaching methods for Vietnamese children abroad" with Dr. Nguyen Thuy Anh, author of the book "Hello Vietnamese"; observed and exchanged practical experiences in teaching Vietnamese at Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School, Hanoi.

In addition to receiving professional knowledge, the teachers also visited some historical and cultural relics in Hanoi (visiting President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum; visiting Ho Chi Minh relic site at the Presidential Palace; visiting the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Vietnam Women's Museum, Bat Trang pottery village) and visited some places in Ha Nam and Ninh Binh.
