Recently, Mr. Nguyen Ba Hung in Hien An 2 village, Phong Xuan commune (Phong Dien town) was honored by the Emulation and Reward Committee of Hue City as one of the typical individuals after voluntarily donating land. "That day, the commune leaders came to my house to discuss the plan to build the second facility of Phong Xuan Kindergarten to help preschool children conveniently go to school and wanted me to donate land to build a school. Feeling sorry for the children, including my own children, who had to brave the wind and rain, travel long distances to school and class, I decided to donate my land to build a school, for the future of the young generation without hesitation", Mr. Nguyen Ba Hung recalled the story of more than 10 years ago.
Mr. Nguyen Ba Lanh, Chairman of Phong Xuan Commune People's Committee, said that in addition to donating land to build the above-mentioned school, farmer Nguyen Ba Hung also donated land to the commune 3 times. That was the time he donated 80m2 to build a road to pay tribute to the graves of 11 martyrs in Hien An 3 village (Phong Xuan commune) or the time he donated 30m2 of rice fields to build a welcome gate in Hien An 2 village. And especially, in 2021, while the land price market was high, Mr. Hung volunteered to donate more than 550m2 to build an inter-village road from Hien An 2 through Tan Lap and then Xuan Loc.
At this time, on the land that is about to be donated are many years old rosewood trees that also hold many memories and are attached to Mr. Hung as well as his family, but he still sadly cuts them down. According to local authorities, the value of the land that Mr. Hung donated is estimated at more than 1 billion VND.
In addition to Mr. Hung, recently, Mr. Tran Dinh Tin in Dien Loc commune (Phong Dien town) was also recognized by the Emulation and Reward Committee of Hue City as a typical example of the movement of donating land to open roads. Coming to Dien Loc commune one day in mid-March 2025, the 13.5m wide asphalt road from the commune government to the residential area invested by the State has made an important contribution to people's travel, traffic accidents have also decreased since the new road replaced the small, narrow road with many "potholes" and "elephant holes".
Looking at the green, clean, beautiful road ahead, Mr. Tran Dinh Tin said: "Previously, my family's land was close to the current road. In early 2022, the land was in a fever, the land price was very high, that was also the time when the Dien Loc commune government came to mobilize land donation to build an inter-commune road. At a time when every inch of land is precious, I myself am old and weak, living on my children, the decision to donate land was not easy, moreover, donating part of the land left by my ancestors made me even more worried. But I thought that building the road was for my children and grandchildren to walk on, to beautify my family and village, so I decided to donate the entire area of land the commune needed to build the road."
Mr. Tran Dinh Dung, Vice Chairman of Dien Loc Commune People's Committee, said that in order to have a nearly 2km long inter-commune road as beautiful as today, many households voluntarily donated land. However, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tin is the household that donated the largest area of residential land. Mr. Tin is also the one who mobilized relatives and family members to voluntarily donate an additional 131m2 of land to build the road.

In Phong Chuong commune (Phong Dien town) - where there are still many poor households, but recently the movement of donating land and not receiving compensation to build roads has gradually spread. Ms. Tran Thi Thu Huyen, Chairman of Phong Chuong Commune People's Committee, said that the movement of donating land to build roads in the locality has recently received a large response from local people, especially when the locality is promoting the program of building new rural areas. In the past 5 years, Phong Chuong has invested in nearly 10 large and small traffic routes; in which the capital contributed by people from donating land is worth more than 6 billion VND...
With such valuable gestures and actions, many households in Phong Chuong have been recognized, commended and rewarded by Phong Dien town. For example, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Chung's family (Trung Thanh village) when seeing that the road opening needed the contribution of the people to make it more spacious and spacious, voluntarily donated more than 250m2 of land. Or Mrs. Hoang Thi Hoa's family (My Phu village) donated nearly 180m2 of land and trees to open a new road through their garden... If calculating the land value according to the compensation price for site clearance, Mr. Chung's and Mrs. Hoa's families could be compensated hundreds of millions of VND/household.
Similarly, implementing the Party and State's policy on implementing the movement of the whole people uniting to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas, from 2021 up to now, Mr. Hoang Lon's family in Bac - Trieu - Vinh village, Phong Hien ward (Phong Dien town) has responded and voluntarily donated 5,000m2 of forest land to open 2 traffic routes to serve the travel and agricultural production of the people as well as create a clean and beautiful rural appearance.
Mr. Hoang Van Thai, Vice Chairman of Phong Dien Town People's Committee, said that expanding roads is a breakthrough to create a premise for building new rural areas, so the movement of donating land for building rural roads in the locality was born from that. Up to now, Phong Dien Town has more than 4,350 households participating in donating 578 thousand square meters of land, investing in nearly 300 welfare works and roads, with a value of nearly 58 billion VND, contributing to the construction of new rural areas with high efficiency; many localities are building new rural areas in the direction of urban civilization.
"The national target program for building new rural areas and civilized urban areas has been identified by Phong Dien town as a key and continuous task. To achieve new results, in addition to the work that must be done, the government has high expectations for the noble gestures and meaningful work of the land donation movement to continue to spread, expand, and create momentum for the locality to develop further in the coming time," Mr. Hoang Van Thai added.
