Four active storms in the Western Pacific

Four storms swept across the western Pacific in November, stretching from Vietnam to the US island of Guam, a rare phenomenon caused by warmer ocean waters that threatens to cause more damage to affected areas.

This is also the first time that four storms have existed at the same time in November, since information began to be recorded in 1951, according to CNN on November 12, citing confirmation from the Japan Meteorological Agency. Compared to any other month of the year, this is the first time this sea has had four storms at the same time in the past 7 years.

Before weakening into a tropical depression on the evening of November 11, storm Yinxing (storm number 7) existed at the same time with three other storms in the Western Pacific: Toraji (storm number 8), Usagi and Man-Yi.

Consecutive storms in the East Sea, why is the South still hot?

Typhoon Yinxing made landfall in the northeastern Philippines on November 7. There were no reports of casualties, but the storm brought heavy rain, high waves and landslides. After entering the South China Sea, the storm headed towards China's Hainan Island before turning south and causing rain in parts of Vietnam.

On November 11, Typhoon Toraji swept across the eastern coast of Aurora Province, forcing thousands to evacuate. Now, the Philippines is bracing for Typhoon Usagi. A fourth storm, Man-Yi, could hit the northeastern Philippines early next week.

According to experts, Southeast Asia is one of the regions most vulnerable to climate change in the world, with phenomena such as heat waves, storms and floods.

Higher ocean temperatures provide a huge source of energy, making hurricanes stronger. Scientists say humans burning fossil fuels is warming the ocean.
