Being both diligent in farming and raising livestock, Mr. Ha Van Ngoc owns a farm of about 5 hectares, worth 2.5 billion VND in the middle of the rocky plateau of Ha Giang.

Mr. Ha Van Ngoc (born in 1989) in Ban Ke village, Yen Minh town, is one of the typical young people ineconomic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction. As the Director of Thanh Nien General Agricultural Service Cooperative, Mr. Ngoc currently owns a 5-hectare farm. Here, he grows many different types of trees such as mango, chili, soapberry... with a total quantity of up to thousands of trees.

According to Mr. Ngoc, the farm's "leading" plant is wind chili. "The climate and soil here seem too harsh and arid, but they give Ha Giang wind chili a moderate spiciness and a distinctive aroma, which is very popular with customers," said Mr. Ngoc. Wind chili is a short-term plant (bearing fruit after 3 months), easy to grow, low investment cost, good growth ability, few pests and diseases, so consumption is very stable.

Not only is Mr. Ngoc diligent in farming, he is also good at raising livestock. Taking us deep into the farm, he proudly introduced the rows of barns for raising chickens, buffaloes, cows... The most are black chickens with a quantity of about 3,000. Every month, the farm supplies the market with about 5,000 - 7,000 eggs, 1,000 - 1,500 breeding chickens and commercial chickens. On the high mountain slopes, Mr. Ngoc raises bees for honey. He currently owns about 700 bee colonies, each season exploiting about 2,500 liters of mint honey and 3,000 liters of wild flower honey.

“In the start-up phase, any cooperative will encounter difficulties. But the important thing is to find out what the local advantages are, and then based on those advantages, produce products with regional characteristics” - Mr. Ha Van Ngoc

Currently, the total value of Mr. Ngoc's farm is about 2.5 billion with an income of about 1.4 billion/year. In addition, he also creates jobs for about 10 local workers with a salary of 4.5 - 6 million VND/month. From his farm, he has produced 2 mint honey products, 2 chicken and egg products and salted chili pepper products that meet 3-star OCOP standards.

Earlier this year, Mr. Ngoc built a new 2-storey house for his family. At home, he opened a showroom displaying mint honey products, chicken eggs, etc. and opened a restaurant. “My house is just a prefabricated house, not a solid house. I still have to try hard,” Mr. Ngoc said modestly.

His Thanh Nien Cooperative is considered the most successful youth economic model in Yen Minh district. “I named the cooperative Thanh Nien to symbolize the youthful enthusiasm that always burns within me,” Ngoc confided. With its outstanding achievements, Thanh Nien Cooperative was honored to receive certificates of merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Giang province in 2020 and 2022. “In the near future, I plan to expand the scale of the farm to create more jobs for local people. I hope more people will be inspired and farm like me,” Ngoc confided.
