On the morning of September 5th, over 900,000 students across the province joyfully began the 2024-2025 school year with a solemn, warm, and safe opening ceremony. This joy has further boosted morale and motivation for the Thanh Hoa Education sector to confidently strive to successfully complete the tasks of the new school year.

Happy opening ceremony of the new school year!
Early in the morning of September 5th, from cities to rural areas, from coastal villages to remote border hamlets, the atmosphere became more lively and bustling as long lines of parents brought their children to school for the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year. The children, dressed in new clothes and excitedly carrying balloons and red flags with yellow stars, eagerly headed to school.

Among the crowd, Ms. Vi Thi Nghe (born in 1984) from Can village, Tam Chung commune (Muong Lat district) also set aside her daily work in the fields to bring her daughter to Muong Lat Ethnic Boarding Secondary School for the opening ceremony. Their house is more than 7km away from the school along a mountainous road, so she woke up at 5 am to prepare sticky rice for her daughter's breakfast. Then, mother and daughter rode their motorbike to school so that her daughter could get ready to perform with her friends in the performing arts group at the opening ceremony. Upon arriving at the school gate, she carefully adjusted her daughter's performance costume and reminded her to dance beautifully.

She confided, "In the past, I didn't have the opportunity to get an education, so life was very difficult. My husband and I know that only by getting a good education will our children have an easier life. Therefore, even though life is still difficult, my husband and I always prioritize investing in our children's education."

Located more than 30km from the center of Muong Lat district, the opening ceremony of the new school year at the remote Pu Dua area of Quang Chieu 1 Primary School (Muong Lat) was simple but warm, marking the National Day for Bringing Children to School. The ceremony lacked flowers and a formal welcoming ceremony for first-grade students, as the children were brought by their parents to attend the ceremony at the central school; the stage was modest, but it represented a great effort and the dedication of the teachers who sow the seeds of knowledge in this challenging border region.

Parents in Pù Đứa village, Quang Chiểu commune, bring their children to school to attend the opening ceremony of the new school year.
During the ceremony, the Mong Pu Dua children attentively watched the cultural performances by their teachers and classmates. Outside, parents also turned their gaze inward, solemnly singing the national anthem with the teachers and students and listening to the letter from the General Secretary and President To Lam to the education sector on the occasion of the opening of the new school year.
Quang Chieu 1 Primary School currently has three separate campuses: Pu Dua, Co Cai, Cum, and the central campus. Due to the small number of students in the Co Cai and Cum campuses, the school organized the opening ceremony at the central campus. However, the Pu Dua campus has a larger student population (53 children) and is located nearly 10km from the main school, making transportation difficult. Therefore, the school held the opening ceremony at the location where the children usually study.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, Head of the Education and Training Department of Muong Lat District, this school year, Muong Lat District has 11,491 students in three levels of education: preschool, primary, and secondary. On the morning of September 5th, schools in the district held brief, solemn, and safe opening ceremonies for the new school year, creating a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere for students and in accordance with the practical situation in each locality.

In the border district of Quan Son, during the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year, teachers and students of Son Lu 1 Kindergarten were delighted to see their new classroom building, after a period of investment and construction, finally put into use. The project, funded by the Quan Son District People's Committee with 10.4 billion VND, includes a three-story building with 10 classrooms and a kitchen area, meeting the needs of childcare and education in the area. The old two-story classroom building was also renovated and converted into an administrative building.
According to Ms. Lu Thi Thanh, Principal of Son Lu 1 Kindergarten, in response to the special attention from the Party and the State, and adhering to the theme of the 2024-2025 school year, "Discipline, responsibility, continuous innovation, and quality improvement," the teachers and students of the school will continue to promote the "Good teaching, good learning" emulation movement and constantly improve the quality of childcare and education.

Besides the nationwide joy of the "National Day for Bringing Children to School," people in the remote villages of Son Dien commune (Quan Son district) are even more delighted because this school year their children no longer have to live in rented accommodations to study. With government investment in repairing facilities, the management board of Son Dien Secondary School proactively advised the Party Committee and People's Committee of the commune, and coordinated with political and social organizations to promote and encourage parents to work with the school to organize a boarding school model, creating favorable conditions for children from distant areas to study.

According to Pham Ngoc Thanh, Principal of Son Dien Secondary School: Due to policy changes, many students living far from the school no longer receive boarding school support, and difficult transportation has affected their academic performance. This is especially true for students in the villages of Xa Mang, Xuan Son, Na Ho, Buon, and Ban, which are more than 10km from the school. The school hopes that organizing the boarding school model will help overcome the difficulties of geographical distance and create favorable conditions for the children to study better.

As we traveled further south, the roads leading to the schools became even more vibrant with the colors of the National Day for bringing children to school. In Thanh Hoa City, traffic police were present from early morning to organize traffic flow and regulate traffic, creating favorable and safe conditions for parents bringing their children to school. The schools were all decorated with flags and flowers, meticulously prepared by the teachers many days in advance, awaiting the beloved students to begin the new school year with many promises of abundant "sweet fruits."

That very atmosphere created joy and excitement in every student, especially those in the first year of secondary school. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, a 6th-grade student from Hoang Ngoc commune (Hoang Hoa district), a coastal area, shared: “I am very happy and excited to attend the opening ceremony of the new school year – my first year at Hoang Ngoc Secondary School. In that joy and excitement, and when the school bell rang, I, like my classmates and friends in the school, realized that we must be determined to study hard and train well.”
Continue to fundamentally and comprehensively reform education and training.
With a focus on leadership and guidance in preparing for the new school year, Party committees and authorities at all levels in the province have organized campaigns to encourage parents to send their children to school, and have provided support to children from disadvantaged backgrounds to ensure that no student is left without an education. At the same time, key leaders have been assigned to directly inspect school facilities and attend opening ceremonies at various schools.
With the support and encouragement of parents and all sectors of society, the opening ceremony of the new school year, held solemnly and joyfully throughout the province, further affirmed that the Party and State always consider education as a top national priority; education and training aim at developing human beings and their happiness, maximizing the human factor, placing people at the center, as the subject, resource, and goal of development, creating a foundation for achieving the goal of a prosperous people, a strong nation, democracy, fairness, and civilization.
In the 2023-2024 academic year, in the national excellent student competition in cultural subjects, Thanh Hoa province had 84 out of 90 participating students winning awards (achieving a rate of 93%, the highest in the country, an increase of 23 awards compared to the 2022-2023 academic year). One student won a bronze medal at the 58th Mendeleev International Chemistry Olympiad (IMChO); one silver medal and two bronze medals at the 2024 Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO); and one silver medal at the 2024 International Physics Olympiad. In the 2024 high school graduation exam, Thanh Hoa ranked 18th among the provinces with the highest exam scores (an increase of 3 places compared to 2023), had the most perfect scores (10 points) nationwide, and had 2 students who achieved the top score nationwide. Also during the 2023-2024 school year, Thanh Hoa maintained its achievement of Level 3 standards for universal primary education; was recognized as having achieved Level 2 standards for universal lower secondary education; and achieved Level 2 standards for literacy eradication. |
The 2024-2025 academic year is a crucial milestone, determining the success of implementing the targets and tasks in the field of education and training according to the Resolutions of the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2020-2025 term and the 5-year socio-economic development plan (2021-2025) of the province. The Thanh Hoa Education Department has set out 10 groups of tasks and solutions for this goal.
In particular, attention is paid to continuing to improve the institutional framework and enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of state management in education. Simultaneously, ensuring equitable access to education for all is paramount; with particular attention to ethnic minorities, people living in mountainous areas, regions with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions, coastal and island areas, orphans, homeless children, people with disabilities, and those from poor and near-poor households, so that no one is left behind. Developing the teaching staff and educational management personnel ensures sufficient numbers and improved quality to meet the requirements of educational and training reform...

Implementing these tasks and solutions under the difficult socio-economic conditions of the province, with many schools in remote areas lacking adequate facilities and teaching equipment, and with uneven qualifications among staff and teachers, is a major challenge. Therefore, it requires greater effort and determination not only from the education sector but also from Party committees, government agencies, and the entire society to focus on implementing Resolution No. 29 of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training, all for the sake of our beloved students and the future of the country.

This was also the guiding spirit of Comrade Do Trong Hung, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, when attending the opening ceremony of the new school year at Le Loi High School (Tho Xuan). He emphasized: The education and training sector, the Party Committee, and the government of Tho Xuan district need to continue to lead, direct, and effectively implement the task of fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training; identifying this as an important task both in the short and long term, requiring perseverance and creativity in implementation. Focus on leading and directing the removal of difficulties, shortcomings, and "bottlenecks," creating breakthroughs in the quality of education and training. Implement the policy of socializing education effectively, paying attention to allocating budget and exploiting all resources in society to invest in facilities and equipment; focusing on improving the quality and standardizing the team of management staff and teachers to meet the requirements of teaching and learning.
Teachers and students of Le Loi High School need to remember the beloved President Ho Chi Minh's teaching, "No matter how difficult the circumstances, we must continue to strive for excellence in teaching and learning." Each staff member, teacher, and student needs to continue to make efforts, overcome all difficulties, and further improve the quality of teaching and learning. Adhering to the theme of the 2024-2025 school year, "Discipline, responsibility, continuous innovation, and quality improvement," we will continue to promote the "Excellent Teaching, Excellent Learning" emulation movement, constantly improving and innovating teaching and learning methods to enhance students' qualities and abilities, fostering creative thinking, self-learning, and self-cultivation.
