Looking forward to a happy "season"

On the morning of September 5, more than 900,000 students across all regions of the province happily entered the 2024-2025 school year with an opening ceremony held solemnly, warmly and safely. That joy has added momentum and motivation for the Thanh Hoa Education sector to confidently strive to successfully complete the tasks of the new school year.

Happy new school year opening ceremony

Early in the morning of September 5, all over the roads from urban to rural areas, coastal villages to remote border villages, the atmosphere became more bustling and crowded with long lines of parents taking their children to school for the Opening Ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year. The children were dressed in new clothes, holding balloons and red flags with yellow stars, eager to go to school.

Among those people, Ms. Vi Thi Nghe (born in 1984) in Can village, Tam Chung commune (Muong Lat) also put aside her daily work in the fields to take her daughter to Muong Lat Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities to attend the opening ceremony. Her house is more than 7km of mountain road from the school, so she woke up at 5am to cook sticky rice for her daughter to eat for breakfast. Then she and her daughter rode their motorbike to school so that her daughter could prepare to perform with her friends in the art troupe at the opening ceremony. When she arrived at the school gate, she carefully adjusted her daughter's performance costume and reminded her to dance beautifully.

She confided: “In the past, I did not have the opportunity to study, so life was very difficult. My husband and I knew that only by studying well would our children have less trouble. So, even though life was still difficult, my husband and I always prioritized investing in our children's education.”

More than 30km from the center of Muong Lat district, the opening ceremony of the new school year in Pu Dua remote area, Quang Chieu 1 Primary School (Muong Lat) was simple but warm during the National Day of Bringing Children to School. The ceremony had no fresh flowers, nor a welcoming ceremony for first graders, because the children were brought by their parents to attend the ceremony at the central school area; the stage backdrop was also modest, but it was a great effort with the dedication of the teachers who sowed knowledge on this difficult borderland.

During the ceremony, the children of Mong Pu Dua village attentively watched the performances of their teachers and friends. Outside, the parents also turned their eyes inward, solemnly singing the National Anthem with the teachers and students and listening to the letter of General Secretary and President To Lam sent to the education sector on the occasion of the opening of the new school year.

Quang Chieu 1 Primary School currently has 3 separate areas: Pu Dua, Co Cai, Cum and the central area. Because the number of students in the separate areas of Co Cai and Cum is very small, the school organized to welcome the students to attend the opening ceremony at the central area. In particular, Pu Dua area has more students (53 students), and is nearly 10km from the main school, with difficult traffic, so the school organized the opening ceremony at the place where the students usually study.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Muong Lat district, this school year, Muong Lat district has 11,491 students at 3 levels: Preschool, Primary and Secondary. On the morning of September 5, schools in the area held a short, solemn and safe opening ceremony for the new school year, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere for students and suitable to the practical situation in each locality.

In Quan Son border district, at the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 - 2025 school year, teachers and students of Son Lu 1 Kindergarten were even happier when the new classroom area after a period of investment and construction was put into use. The project was invested by the People's Committee of Quan Son district with 10.4 billion VND with a 3-storey building, including 10 classrooms and 1 kitchen area, meeting the needs of raising children in the area. The old 2-storey classroom area was also repaired and converted into a head office building.

Principal of Son Lu 1 Kindergarten Lu Thi Thanh said that in response to the special attention of the Party and State, closely following the theme of the 2024-2025 school year "Discipline, responsibility, continuous innovation, improving quality", teachers and students of the school continue to promote the emulation movement "Teach well, study well", constantly improving the quality of child care and education.

In addition to the joy shared with the whole country on the National Day of Bringing Children to School, people in villages far from the center of Son Dien commune (Quan Son) are more excited because this school year their children will no longer have to live in rented accommodation or live with others to study. With the state's investment in repairing facilities, the board of directors of Son Dien Secondary School has proactively advised the Party Committee and the People's Committee of the commune and coordinated with political and social associations and organizations to propagate and mobilize parents and the school to organize a boarding model for children living far away, creating favorable conditions for children living far away to study.

Principal of Son Dien Secondary School Pham Ngoc Thanh said: Due to policy changes, many students living far from school are no longer supported with boarding regime, transportation is difficult, affecting their academic performance. Especially students in the villages: Xa Mang, Xuan Son, Na Ho, Buon, Ban which are more than 10km from the school. The school hopes that organizing the boarding model with local people will help overcome the difficulty of geographical distance, creating favorable conditions for students to study better.

The further downstream, the more colorful the road leading to the school is on the National Children's Day. In Thanh Hoa City, the traffic police force was present from early morning to organize traffic flow and regulate traffic, creating favorable and safe conditions for parents to take their children to school. The schools were decorated with flags and flowers, which teachers had painstakingly prepared many days before, waiting for their beloved students to enter the new school year with many promises of "sweet fruits".

It was this atmosphere that created joy and excitement in each student, especially the first-year students. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, a 6th grader in the coastal commune of Hoang Ngoc (Hoang Hoa) shared: “I am very happy and nervous to attend the opening ceremony of the new school year - the first school year at Hoang Ngoc Secondary School. In that joy and excitement and when the school drum rang, I, as well as my classmates and schoolmates, realized that we must be determined to compete to study well and practice well.”

Continue to fundamentally and comprehensively innovate education and training

Paying attention to leading and directing the preparation for the new school year, the provincial Party Committees and authorities have organized propaganda and mobilized parents to send their children to school, and paid attention to supporting children with especially difficult circumstances so that no student could not go to class. At the same time, key leaders were assigned to directly inspect the physical conditions of schools and classrooms; and attend the opening ceremonies at schools.

With the attention and support of parents and people from all walks of life, the opening ceremony of the new school year was solemnly and joyfully held in all regions of the province, continuing to affirm that our Party and State always consider education as the top national policy; Education and training aim at human development and human happiness, maximizing the human factor, taking people as the center, subject, resource, and goal of development, creating the foundation for realizing the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization.

In the 2023-2024 school year, in the national excellent student exam in cultural subjects, Thanh Hoa had 84/90 candidates winning prizes (reaching a rate of 93%, the highest in the country, an increase of 23 prizes compared to the 2022-2023 school year). There was 1 student winning a bronze medal at the 58th Mendeleev International Chemistry Olympiad (IMChO); 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals at the 2024 Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO); 1 silver medal at the 2024 International Physics Olympiad.

In the 2024 high school graduation exam, Thanh Hoa ranked 18th in the top provinces with the highest exam scores (up 3 places compared to 2023), the province with the most 10 points nationwide, with 2 students achieving national valedictorians.

Also in the 2023-2024 school year, Thanh Hoa will maintain the standard of universal primary education level 3; be recognized as having achieved the standard of universal lower secondary education level 2 and achieving the standard of illiteracy eradication level 2.

The 2024 - 2025 school year is an important milestone, determining the success of implementing targets and tasks in the field of education and training according to the Resolution of the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2020 - 2025 term and the 5-year socio-economic development plan (2021-2025) of the province. The Thanh Hoa Education sector has proposed 10 groups of tasks and solutions.

In particular, continuing to improve institutions, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management of education is of concern. At the same time, ensuring fairness in access to education for all subjects; in which, attention is paid to the subjects of ethnic minorities, people living in mountainous areas, areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions, coastal areas, islands, orphans, homeless children, people with disabilities, people from poor households, near-poor households, so that no one is left behind. Developing the team of teachers and managers of educational institutions to ensure sufficient quantity and improve quality, meeting the requirements of educational and training innovation...

Implementing these tasks and solutions in the context of the province's difficult socio-economic conditions, many schools in remote areas still lack facilities and teaching equipment; the qualifications of staff and teachers are still uneven... is a big challenge. Therefore, it requires greater efforts and determination from not only the education sector, but also from Party committees, authorities and the whole society to focus on implementing Resolution No. 29 of the Party Central Committee on fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training, all for the sake of beloved students and the future of the country.

That is also the guiding spirit of comrade Do Trong Hung, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council when attending the opening ceremony of the new school year at Le Loi High School (Tho Xuan). He emphasized: The Department of Education and Training, the Party Committee and the government of Tho Xuan district need to continue to lead, direct and effectively organize the implementation of the task of fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training; identifying this as an important task both in the short and long term, and must be persistent and creative in organizing and implementing. Focus on leading and directing the removal of difficulties, shortcomings, and "bottlenecks", creating a breakthrough in the quality of education and training. Well implement the policy of socializing education, pay attention to allocating the budget and exploiting all resources in society to invest in facilities and equipment; focus on improving the quality and standardizing the team of managers and teachers, meeting the requirements of teaching and learning.
