Italian beekeeping model for honey of Mr. Ho Van Tuan in Phuoc Tien village, Tan Phuoc commune, La Gi town.

Unlike domestic bees, Italian bees are gentle, rarely sting people and are absolutely loyal to the queen bee, so they never leave the nest and fly away. With relatively favorable natural conditions, Mr. Tuan's 200 boxes of Italian bees are neatly arranged in rows under the canopy of acacia trees, the bees are always covered and protected under the shade of the trees. Therefore, the bees grow and develop quite well. According to Mr. Tuan, the most difficult thing for beekeepers is to encounter rainy and windy weather, because the characteristics of this Italian bee species are not able to withstand cold climates...

Mr. Tuan currently owns more than 200 Italian beehives.

Thanks to the favorable farming location, during the blooming season of acacia flowers, there is always an abundant amount of food, so the Italian bee colony raised by Mr. Tuan always produces a lot of honey. It is known that the food that Mr. Tuan feeds bees is mainly ground soybeans mixed with honey, this food has the effect of raising pupae and young bees. On average, each bee box produces 3 to 4 harvests per month, depending on weather conditions. It is known that this Italian bee breed develops best in the sunny season.

Mr. Tuan uses ground soybeans mixed with honey to feed pupae and young bees.

It is known that each time honey is extracted, an Italian beehive produces 10-15 liters of honey, with an average selling price of 80,000 VND to 100,000 VND/liter and is purchased by traders in Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria Vung Tau... and this Italian honey is mainly exported abroad.

Sharing with us, Mr. Tuan said: “Beekeeping is both easy and difficult. It is easy because beekeeping does not require a large investment capital, is not as hard as other manual labor jobs, and anyone can do it. However, the care process requires the beekeeper to be careful, persistent, meticulous, and understand the characteristics of bees such as: flying back and forth, eating, building nests, dividing swarms, understanding flowers, blooming seasons, honey collecting seasons to increase the yield and quality of honey... And especially, the beekeeper needs to be diligent and have good health to "run the bees" according to the season. "Run the bees" is used by beekeepers to refer to moving the bee colony. In addition, it is necessary to catch the right diseases of the bees to prevent the spread of pathogens."

After more than 3 years of raising Italian bees with many difficulties and challenges, Mr. Tuan has gained a lot of practical experience and continues to make efforts to multiply the bee colony so that his family's Italian beekeeping model for honey can develop further. Furthermore, he is always willing to share his experience with those who intend to start a business with this model.

Hardworking, diligent and striving to improve every day, the young man Ho Van Tuan in Tan Phuoc commune, La Gi town has successfully started a business and become rich right in his hometown La Gi thanks to the model of raising Italian bees for honey, thereby opening a new direction in the development of the local agricultural economy, contributing to helping many young people have the opportunity to learn on the path of establishing themselves and their careers.
