Cologne Schokoladen Museum
With 4,000 guided tours and 650,000 visitors each year, it is one of the ten most visited museums in Germany. The Schokoladen Köln Museum was founded in 1993, attracting visitors not only with its unique architecture, shaped like a large ship, but also with its exhibitions on the origin and 5,000-year history of cocoa and chocolate.
The museum covers an area of 4,000m2 , displaying many artifacts such as a fountain containing 200kg of chocolate flowing from a height of 3m, a collection of 18th - 19th century porcelain, silver bowls and jugs for drinking chocolate from Mesoamerica... In particular, visitors not only learn about the miniature chocolate production line but also have the opportunity to taste chocolates with unique flavors.
Farina Perfume Museum
The Farina Perfume Museum is located opposite Cologne City Hall. The museum's predecessor is the John Maria Farina perfume factory, founded in 1709. This is also the home of the Farina family - the founders of the world-famous Eau de Cologne perfume brand.
The museum provides visitors with full, detailed information about production methods, distillation equipment, and images and documents about the formation of the Eau de Cologne brand. Visiting the museum, visitors will be dressed in costumes with wigs, visit the perfume production process and taste the scent of raw materials before being refined. Immersed in the fascinating historical space of fragrance, visitors will understand why this perfume has existed for 3 centuries and also made Emperor Napoleon use up 2 bottles of perfume every day.
Schnütgen Museum
Schnütgen is a medieval museum that houses one of the most valuable and extensive art collections in Europe. The museum's predecessor was the Church of St. Cecilia, which has a history of over 1,000 years. Since 1956, the Schnütgen museum has been located here.
On a total area of 1,900m2, the museum displays many precious artifacts such as the cross of St. George made from willow wood, 189.5cm high; or the Aachen Madonna - an oak sculpture crafted in 1230, and about 30 Ursuline busts - a characteristic of Cologne. There are also stone sculptures in the Gothic and Romanesque art styles; precious metal treasures, wooden images and ivory carvings; costumes and textiles dating back more than 1,000 years...
