Fully exploit the benefits of houses and land

For the first time, Ho Chi Minh City announced that its budget revenue exceeded 500,000 billion VND. The above figure is more convincing than any evidence when "defining" the economic locomotive of Ho Chi Minh City.

With a large source of revenue, Ho Chi Minh City not only implements its own socio-economic development plans but also contributes greatly to the national budget. This also indirectly promotes the economies of other localities, especially neighboring localities when operating inter-regional economies.

As a vibrant, powerful land that attracts high investment, the land value in Ho Chi Minh City is also at the "top" of the country. This resource has been and is being exploited effectively, but to bring greater profits, it is necessary to monitor the entire area and exploit the remaining vacant land to the maximum.

Not to mention, right in the People's Council meeting held last week, this issue was raised with specific figures: There are still more than 13,000 real estate addresses that are public assets that need to be arranged, more than 1,000 real estate properties are vacant and not being used effectively.

The above problems are the result of rapid economic development in recent times and overlapping management when many related regulations have not been completed. They need time to be arranged, classified and have a solution to bring the highest efficiency for the new development stage of the city.

Coincidentally, the issue of public asset management that the delegate raised is also the issue that the city leaders are struggling with and have made plans to use. The above assets only account for 5% of the total public assets that the city is currently managing. Although the proportion is small, as public assets, they must bring benefits to the country and cannot be exploited by any individual.

According to the plan of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, from January 1, 2025, a general inventory of public assets in the city will be conducted on software developed by the Ministry of Finance. The inventory results will help evaluate the management, exploitation and use of public assets in the city more effectively.

In fact, the issue of public asset management is not only raised for Ho Chi Minh City, but is being implemented nationwide. This is a consistent policy and has recently been specifically directed by the central government in the country's development plans in the new period. Localities with large land values when using land effectively will be a model for other localities to implement.

Housing and land in urban areas always increase in value according to the local economic development index. And conversely, this source of assets is the premise for other industries to develop. Housing and land in the center of large cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, etc. always attract strong investors. Not managing or not using them also means waste at any time.

After human resources, land is the greatest asset of the country from ancient times to the present. By making good use of this asset, we will have enough confidence to outline strong socio-economic development plans to serve the people.
