Visitors were excited to receive the letters right after the opening ceremony.

On the evening of February 3, at the Van Lake space in the special national relic of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam (Dong Da district, Hanoi), the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam opened the Spring Calligraphy Festival program of Giap Thin 2024 with the theme of Learning.

This year’s calligraphy festival has the participation of 40 “calligraphers”. Unlike previous years, the calligraphy booths are arranged around Van Lake. The entire Van Lake space has been renovated and decorated in a traditional style, allowing visitors to truly immerse themselves in the spring atmosphere.

This year's calligraphy festival not only attracted calligraphers from Hanoi, but also many calligraphers from provinces and cities across the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Tran Thi Van Anh emphasized the special significance of the Spring Calligraphy Festival of Giap Thin.

This year 2024 marks the tenth anniversary of the Calligraphy Festival being organized, operating systematically and becoming a cultural activity that the people of the capital and tourists look forward to every time Tet and Spring come. Through the written words, calligraphers and calligraphers have spread the good values of national culture.

In the Calligraphy Festival, there is also a calligraphy exhibition with the theme "Love of Learning" displaying 50 calligraphy works in the front yard area and 50 works around Van Lake.

The content of the works reflects the spirit and tradition of “Learning” of the Vietnamese people. The authors have exploited excerpts from the Doctorate steles at the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam, or folk songs, poems, parallel sentences encouraging learning, and sayings of famous people.

The center of the exhibition space is designed to create a "Word Road" with nine rows of double columns as a symbol of the path of learning or "learning" with the pillars being the country's talented people.

The writings on the 18 pillars all record and rewrite the classic content of Confucianism and the ancient imperial examinations that generations of scholars had to study hard in the hope of passing the exams. The two sides facing the two sides are the contents of parallel sentences that have been hanging at the Temple of Literature - Imperial Academy for hundreds of years.

The exhibition uses light combined with text to create a visual art installation space that attracts viewers.

The exhibition was conceived, built, designed, arranged and displayed by Calligrapher Xuan Nhu Vu Thanh Tung - Chairman of the Executive Board, calligraphy lecturer at Nhan My School - a famous Han Nom teaching center in Hanoi.

Along with calligraphy activities, the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam organizes many traditional cultural activities to serve spring visitors such as: Recreating the traditional educational and examination space; introducing craft villages, traditional handicraft products of Hanoi along with art programs performing ca tru, quan ho, cheo singing, xam singing, chau, water puppetry, lion and dragon dances...

The opening ceremony took place on a weekend, so on the evening of February 3, a large number of the capital's public and tourists came to Van Lake to participate in activities such as asking for calligraphy and experiencing culture.

The calligraphy festival will be open until February 19. Opening hours are from 8am to 10pm.

On New Year's Eve (ie the night of February 9, early morning of February 10), the Calligraphy Festival will be open all night to serve the needs of tourists.
