The highlight of the festival is the largest palanquin procession ever with 11 palanquin teams from localities in Uong Bi city and the Quang Ninh Buddhist Sangha. On the first day of the festival, the event attracted a large number of people and tourists to visit and worship.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Festival, Mr. Pham Tuan Dat, Chairman of the People's Committee of Uong Bi City, informed: In recent years, the province has proactively coordinated with Bac Giang and Hai Duong provinces to build and complete the scientific dossier "The Complex of Monuments and Landscapes of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac" to submit to UNESCO for recognition as a World Heritage Site.
By January 26, 2024, the dossier had been received, reviewed and appraised by UNESCO. At the same time, in 2024, Uong Bi City actively coordinated with relevant units to welcome ICOMOS expert delegations to survey and appraise the site, and the delegation highly appreciated the outstanding value of the Yen Tu Monuments Complex.
These results are important steps in the journey to register Yen Tu as a world cultural heritage, thereby making more efforts to preserve the values of the heritage for future generations. The construction of a dossier to honor the Yen Tu scenic relic is an effort to honor historical culture, while increasing the recognition of the heritage on a global scale to become a resource for tourism development, effectively promoting the value of the heritage.
This year, the traditional Yen Tu Spring Festival was held solemnly, safely, healthily and economically, imbued with national identity. The opening ceremony included rituals: beating drums, ringing bells; spiritual rituals (offerings, praying for national peace and prosperity; Yen Tu sacred seal ceremony).
On the opening day of the festival, there were many monks, Buddhists, people and tourists making pilgrimages to Yen Tu.
Do Ha Linh - a Chinese student said that this was the third time she had come to Yen Tu, each time she had different feelings. However, on this trip, she felt more about the spiritual culture and festivals of Yen Tu. In particular, this will be a memorable experience so that when she returns to school, she can share it with international students so that they can understand more about Yen Tu relic site and travel to Quang Ninh.
Christian Veenman, a tourist from the Netherlands, was very excited to visit Yen Tu for the first time. Having a passion for Buddhist culture and temples, Christian was quite surprised by the grandeur and antiquity of the temple system here. Previously, he had visited and experienced spiritual culture in Ninh Binh, Hanoi and Sa Pa.
To bring the best experiences to Buddhists and tourists from all over, Uong Bi city and Tung Lam Development Joint Stock Company have organized many cultural, entertainment and rich experiences such as: Folk games at Lang Nuong area, traditional folk art performances at the village communal house. Many pilgrimage routes and signboards have also been renovated and refurbished. Along with the flag system, the flower road is in full bloom from Doc Do to the foot of Yen Tu mountain, creating a fresh and brilliant Spring atmosphere, welcoming visitors from all over, along with many new tourism products...
The Yen Tu Spring Festival held on January 10 every year has become a cultural beauty of the Vietnamese people, deeply expressing the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source", a place to gather and spread the good values that generations of ancestors have left behind.
On the first day of Yen Tu Spring Festival, it is estimated that nearly 20,000 domestic and international tourists came to visit, sightsee and worship.
