Brandon Hurley (35 years old, known to many as "Fat Phuc") is an American who has been living in Vietnam for more than 8 years. He also owns a Youtube channel with nearly 500,000 followers and often shares videos about culinary and travel experiences in Vietnam.

During many years living here, Phuc Map has traveled to many provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Phu Quoc (Kien Giang), Ben Tre, Vung Tau, Hoi An (Quang Nam), Da Nang, Da Lat (Lam Dong)... and tasted countless traditional dishes in the regions such as pho, bun cha, banh khot, Quang noodles, grilled chicken with bamboo rice, spring rolls...

In a recently posted video, the American tourist revealed that he took his wife from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang to experience a food tour and enjoy a series of local specialties that he loves on the occasion of their 4th wedding anniversary.

Phuc Map often goes on Google Maps to find restaurants with the most positive reviews to enjoy. He believes this is the best way to find quality addresses that sell local specialties (Screenshot).

As soon as he arrived in Da Nang, Phuc Map and his wife immediately stopped by the Quang noodle restaurant he found on Google Maps. His first impression when trying Quang noodles was that the noodles were large and thick but quite soft and fragrant.

"This is probably the thickest noodle I've ever eaten," said Phuc Map.

Even though he doesn't like quail eggs, because he loves Quang noodles so much, this Western guest still chose to eat and enjoy all the ingredients in the bowl.

The next dish that Phuc Map thinks “must try when coming to Da Nang” is Cao Lau. To enjoy this dish, he drove his wife to Son Tra peninsula on a motorbike and stopped at a restaurant on Nguyen Chi Thanh street.

Phuc Map commented that this is the place that serves the best cao lau compared to other places he has been to.

In terms of taste, American tourists appreciate that Cao Lau here has a very unique taste even though the ingredients are not much different from Cao Lau in many other places.

While eating, Phuc Map kept exclaiming how delicious the cao lau dish was (Photo cut from clip).

While experiencing a food tour in Da Nang and enjoying a memorable vacation, Phuc Map and his wife also stopped by a famous restaurant at 100 Hoang Van Thu Street, Hai Chau District to enjoy banh bot loc and banh beo.

According to the owner, the restaurant has been in operation for more than 25 years. Although the space is small and the decoration is simple, this place is still a favorite culinary destination for many tourists because it is "delicious, nutritious and cheap".

Like many other tourists, Phuc Map especially likes the banh beo here and affirms that "this place sells the best banh beo I have ever enjoyed". He revealed that he used to not be a "fan" of banh beo, but after eating it many times, he gradually became interested and fascinated by the fatty, smooth taste of this dish.

The 35-year-old Westerner also took the time to enjoy some banh canh – one of his favorite dishes when living in Vietnam. He ordered a full bowl of banh canh, with many toppings such as pork, quail eggs, fish cakes, etc., and sprinkled with green onions. Before eating, he carefully squeezed lemon and added ground chili.

Phuc Map commented that the noodles here are quite thick but still chewy and soft, and the broth is fragrant and flavorful to the point that "there is nothing to complain about".

At the end of the journey, Phuc Map and his wife stopped at Ba Duong pancake restaurant on Hoang Dieu street. The restaurant has been in operation for a long time, located in a small alley but is still crowded with customers.

The American male tourist affirmed that banh xeo is one of the dishes that he highly appreciates in Vietnamese culinary culture.

He came to this restaurant after looking at the directions on Google Map and saw that this was an address that received thousands of positive reviews from customers, so he believed that the pancakes here would taste delicious.

Compared to the Western-style banh xeo that he has enjoyed, Phuc Map commented that Da Nang banh xeo is smaller in size but has an equally attractive flavor (Screenshot).

He also showed off his Vietnamese foodie skills by rolling a piece of banh xeo in rice paper, adding raw vegetables and dipping it in a peanut sauce. This dipping sauce is also a difference of the restaurant compared to other places.

The American guest also ordered sweet and sour fish sauce and commented that no matter what kind of dipping sauce the pancakes here are served with, they are all delicious.
