After Tuoi Tre Online published the article "Shop owner cries because customer hugs laptop 'rooted' all day", many readers had opinions about this issue.
Some opinions say that customers need to be proactive in ordering more dishes if they stay for many hours in order for the restaurant to maintain and make a profit. Many opinions suggest that restaurant owners limit Wi-Fi, or even charge extra for customers who stay for many hours...
Besides, many people also give advice to happily adapt to the laptop user group.
Having customers stay in a coffee shop for a long time is not necessarily a bad thing. For many people, they are loyal customers and if they know how to take care of them, they will attract more customers to the shop.
Mr. Thanh Van (27 years old, a shop owner in Hai Chau district, Da Nang) shared that even though laptop users sit for a long time, they will help the shop create the effect of always being crowded.
Owners and staff should be patient and polite during peak hours to ask for less seats at these tables to make room for more seats for later guests.
Mr. Quoc Vu (32 years old, owner of a lemon tea and milk tea shop in Quang Tri province) thinks that limiting Wi-Fi access time is not a good way. He shows that some chain brands have failed to apply that solution in Vietnam.
"Let the staff politely introduce additional combo dishes of the restaurant to customers who stay for long hours. Arrange additional side dish menus in places that are easy for customers to see to cleverly invite them.
Maybe they really need it but are too focused on work to order. Or when asked, they happily order more," said Mr. Vu.
Sharing the same thought, Ms. Khanh Van, who is running an F&B business, believes that laptop users usually come to the restaurant alone. But when they have a good experience at a certain restaurant, turning that address into a "regular" restaurant, they will bring more customers such as friends, partners... to the restaurant.

"Instead of being annoyed with them, happily design more two-seater tables and chairs, or renovate the shop into two spaces. A separate space for workers can have a separate counter for service, with an additional charge.
If your shop has too many laptop users, it proves that your coffee shop model or location is suitable for people working. Be bold and exploit it," Khanh Van shared.
